So just out of curiosity how many people still play Minecraft singleplayer? I'm curious because I've asked all my friends and many of them say they haven't played single player for years. Is Minecraft single player dying and everyone now just playing on servers or what?

I play single player close to 90% of the time I'd say, partly because I am stuck in version 1.7.2 or earlier, partly for lack of servers with decent people that aren't overcrowded. Add in the need for overlap, and multiplayer isn't gonna happen.
I haven't logged into a multiplayer server since 1.8 Beta. I would say SIngle-player is still very much alive considering many other people still upload videos playing single-player as Creative, Survival or Adventure. There is a tendency for the younger demographic to be brought up on playing a lot of multi-player games to stick with it. For them, gaming is a much deeper social interaction and to them, that's all it's for. I've been playing video games since the NES was released, and mostly prefer single-player. When XBox was released, I purchased Mechwarrior and tried multi-player and got an earful form a bunch of "13 year-olds" telling me what they were doing with my mom and where I can put my controller. Put me off of multi-player games for some time.
I play video games mostly for the entertainment value. Sometimes I'll get social. Not much
Me personally I'm usually in my world with my selection of mods to play with, so I don't have mods I know I don't really care about using. Can't have that on a server unless you host it
I mainly play sp because of how childish and annoying people on servers can be. Yes, I annoy myself but not quite as much. Either way, I still love the game.
The last time I played on any sort of server was on my friends one, which I was helping him build a terrain map. Before that, I think it was just after 1.7.10.
Needless to say, I don't particularly enjoy multiplayer. Then again, I've played way back since Classic, before multiplayer and even Alpha was implemented.

I completely agree with your statement, there are a lot of childish players out on servers that I would like to avoid and when I play Minecraft singleplayer I usually play just to mess around with building ideas while listening to music helps keep me calm and unirritated because i don't have to deal with childish 10 year olds.

Ya, single player is quite dead. I have played for many, many hours the last couple of months and haven't seen another person.
Jokes(?) aside. I am mostly, like 90%, playing in single player, as I personally play MC to relax, and that I do best when goofing around in single player.
Hehe, good one. But I agree when I mostly play multiplayer but when I go play in my singleplayer worlds it's the most relaxing time I have while playing Minecraft. For me there is nothing like just sitting down building a cool house and listening to awesome music while you do it.

I'd say it's about 50/50 for me. I usually only play on singleplayer to mess around with mods, though.
Yeah that makes sense I guess a lot of people use singleplayer to mess with things like mods and build ideas as well as relaxing.

I play single player 95% of the time. I tried open servers and didn't care for the experience. What little I play in multi-play is on server I host for friends only.
I play a tiny bit of skyblock, but thats single player for me as well.
I was going to mention that - over half of all players are playing singleplayer at any given moment, despite all the threads claiming that it is dying out (like the game itself supposedly is, lots of "Minecraft is dying" threads as well).
Here is a chart Dinnerbone posted showing that singleplayer rules over multiplayer; sure, this was from January but I doubt much has changed since then:
As for myself, I've never played multiplayer - ever, even just to check it out; my multiplayer server list is completely empty - and I've been playing for more than two years. Part of the reason is because I'm perfectly happy playing multiplayer, another is that you have to find a server yourself, and another is that you aren't in full control of your world (e.g. server resets, updates, etc).
Singleplayer here. I mainly stick to singeplayer due to how bad Australian internet is. Attempting to play on a modded server with friends in America, and even the next town over locally is bad with Australian internet.

Single player is absolutely not dead.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
I play single player most of the time because I just can't stand playing with other people. They build stuff that looks like crap and it bugs me.
I don't play survival on singleplayer. The only time i go on it is if I'm playing on those only one command mod.
