I think that the most useless thing in the game is emeralds, Because they are so hard to find and the deals with the villagers are useless junk. It is more worth it to go out and farm the material instead of trade for it with emeralds.
Addicell is making a great point. Farming the material is less of a hastle.
The three types of stone can be handy for mapmakers or builders, who want a lot of variety in their blocks, and these blocks look quite nice when polished. Dirt can be used for decoration when making a flower bed or garden, not to mention allowing you to grow crops, spawn animals, repair creeper craters, etc.
I never said that dirt was useless I was sarcastic
Incorrect, hoes can only get Unbreaking (why have Efficiency when they already till dirt instantly, and what would Silk Touch on hoes be useful for? Unbreaking is also silly unless you are making some mega farm and it would have to be large enough to justify using a diamond hoe, which is otherwise as pointless as gold when you can make a bunch of renewable wooden/stone hoes instead).
You are thinking of shears, which can in fact get just those three enchantments. Both can also only be enchanted with books, so in a sense they are unenchantable (not recognized as an enchantable item by the table, presumably since with so few enchantments, especially hoes, they'd pretty much always get what you want).

yes on the efficiency I guess I was wrong, maybe you could enchant the hoe with an efficeny book? Unbreaking would be useless albeit pretty cool considering not much people have enchanted hoes, also considering I have an XP grinder and a cleric villager trading 2 lapis for 1 emerald, enchanting stuff is beyond easy for me, I enchant EVERYTHING, even my hoes and shears
I feel like the MOST useless item in the game would have to be a dead bush, or cobwebs (not string).
do you even have an idea how useful cobwebs are for applications like very long minecart redstone timers without having to put down stacks and stacks of repeaters, cobweb timers/clocks are the most non-lag and dependable clocks that there are in minecraft I use them all the time in my redstone builds so theyre really useful also because they make you fall very slowly which is cool, but its get them because you need a silk touch enchanted shears to collect it in survival
Bedrock.
We don't need it! We can just mine above it.
Well, believe it or not, bedrock IS useful. Just not for building stuff. If bedrock was removed from Minecraft, your mine could hit the void. The void isn't really a beautiful thing to look at, and its dangerous. So thats why bedrock exists.

Hi. You're looking at the signature of a user that has pretty much quit Minecraft, but I might still be lurking. You can take a look if you want.

Well ,yes. But what use is for falling slowly besides trolling other people or spending an hour stuck in one for fun because your bored? And as you said, you HAVE to have a silk touch shears to just collect them in survival. And you may be able to use them for redstone (which I am not very comfortable with), but I have seen server's redstone things, my friend's redstone things, and even YouTuber's redstone things, and I have never seen once a cobweb. But, they may use them in semi-rare contraptions.
Enchanted books are extremely useful to get specific enchants on your tools, without all the chance.
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or have never enchanted a book before, but you are very wrong. Enchanted books can get enchants from ANY type of object (you could be looking for Sharpness and instead have to choose from Respiration, Aqua Affinity, or Punch) and you'll have a better chance to get specific enchantments by using the item you actually want. Besides, you are looking for the most useless item, not most useful (though this could prove you truly ARE being sarcastic).
yup. by the time i get the water enchants on a totally new set of armor that will only ever be useful for raiding the ocean temples, i already have more than enough gold to make powered rails for days < and powered rails are the only good use for gold.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

At least cobwebs are useful in decorating old dungeons/abandoned place/spooky places. Or as hazards to slow down people.
Dead bush too, they don't looks so bad in the bland deserts.

books
after you make an enchantment table, books just become decor.

I think the most useless item in the game is the ender egg because you cant craft anything with it. Its technechly a decoration item.
Enchanted books are extremely useful to get specific enchants on your tools, without all the chance.
Everything has a use if you're creative enough.

Are you saying gold blocks are useless?

Oh great, now I have to get a new computer.
