What is in your opinion the most useless item in the game, it could be anything, just please reply and in your post write why you think a given item is the most useless item in the game
I think that the most useless thing in the game is emeralds, Because they are so hard to find and the deals with the villagers are useless junk. It is more worth it to go out and farm the material instead of trade for it with emeralds.

they are extremely useful in Skyblock believe me, without them you wouldn't have villager trades which are really important

I'll disagree there, I have had leatherworkers and smiths offer good trades for echanted gear that I could use, and although emeralds are hard to find its easy to throw your wheat surplus at a farmer and walk away with 8-9 emeralds.
I would have said rotten flesh, but you can trade it for emeralds with a priest.
the actual most useless? probably the different types of stone, Wool and clay is easier to work with for decoration, and it doesn't have any crafting utility that cobble doesn't match.
In older versions of the game, such as the version I play in (1.6.4) air doesn't even exist as a block, which is probably why later versions lag because the game actually tries to handle it as a block, rendering and all, instead of seeing it as simply empty space. Not kidding; they removed void fog in 1.8 because of lag caused by "ticking air blocks" which is utter nonsense in a properly coded game (never saw ANY effect on performance in older versions, using Optifine to disable it not because of lag but because I don't like it, especially with how I modded the underground to be deeper, meaning it would be very dense; in those older versions void fog was nothing more than the normal render distance fog modified to get closer and darker as you go deeper, with no references to any sort of blocks, "air" or otherwise, so I can't imagine how badly they coded 1.8 for it to cause lag).
Anyway, poisonous potatoes are sure useless - you'd have thought they would make potions of poison or something, but no, just toss them. They don't even affect normal potato drop rates (dropped in addition to normal drops) and are too rare anyway to make a difference.
Ok guys, minecraft wasn't created to have some useless junk,no everything has a purpose, cause if it didn't it would stop existing.Every item has it's own purpose, some items are for combat, some for tools(mining, cutting, shearing, baking etc.)And some are just for decorations, this is your answer.

ty man that was interesting, but can I ask you why do you always Mod the game and play on older versions of MC to make it more fun, iam always strictly vanilla, even using plugins or OptiFine in my opinion ruines MC vanilla gameplay, iam fine with playing in older versions though, I play in Minecraft Infdev and indev sometimes (had to download indev because it doesn't come default with the launcher)
Anyway, poisonous potatoes are sure useless - NO, p potatoes do have a purpose in Minecraft if really desperate(REALLY)you have to eat him and sometimes even to trick newbies to think that they are eating potatoes this teaches them to read the name of the item.

I disagree, what use is there for the EnderDragon egg? what use is there for Quartz block (other than decoration), and what use is the Deadbush? also what is the use for poisonous potatoes then?

Enderdragon Egg is well if in creative mode you can use it for making Decoration or like a goal to capture it(If using bukkit servers you can actually pick up the dragon egg). Now for the p potatoes read my post closely, for tricking and for desperate situations of no food.Dead bush is the addition to make the deserts a bit more authentic,or when making a map with a desert use this.Quartz can be farmed for exp cause when you mine him you get a lot of exp.

Dragon egg: Decoration. Quartz block: Like you said, Decoration for builders, And Dead bush: For decoration in a desert area. Poisonous Potato: For someone who is starving... On easy mode...

without air then Minecraft would be unplayable, it would crash because there is no such thing as empty space in minecraft so I disagree

air is unobtainable even in Creative Mode so I don't even think it counts as an item, you cant even get it using commands (/give <player> 1 0)

LOL, you think so?
Try playing Without it?
It's 'usefulness' is delineating Change.
Without it you would have a black world of nothingness as your head would always be stuck in some other block.
I get what you mean though.
Air is obtainable. Once you spawn, you get an infinite supply of it. You cannot replace blocks with it but blocks can replace it. xD
Oh hey, finally back after so many years!
finally somebody who agrees with me
My vote is for an Entity. The Player. ;-P
Most useless object in the game... prismarine. It can only craft a short number of blocks, the only one that really has a use is the lanterns.
an entity is not an item, and the player is not obtainable, iam talking about obtainable things here (NOT air and definitely NOT the player)

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
