I have no interest in capes since I play in first person perspective and mostly single player.
Also, I don't know if I had the wrong settings or something, but the Scrolls cape that everybody got to wear for a while was totaly uninteresting, I couldn't see what the pattern was supposed to be. And I saw someone wearing a cape on a server once and thought it hung like a sheet of plywood.
They should just let you have them for free. Minecraft isn't about looking cool its about building whatever you want and being free. Paid DLC would ruin the game.

Tell that to <insert corporation here>. They are money hungry... possibly due to their legal obligation to create a return on their shareholders investment.
It's funny that you point out Microsoft for being money hungry though... especially considering they haven't added any pay to play features to Minecraft yet. Not to mention, if we were to point out Microsofts contributions to society in terms dollars and services donated then Microsofts 'money hungry' attitude comes into question... especially considering how evil other corporations are (cough comcast).

As for the topic... pay to play capes? My god. The OP must not have to pay his own credit card bill or something... being comfortable with paying for virtual capes when it should be free if anything is terrifying. The more people okay with this the more often it will happen.

I never really got the attraction of buying to look better on servers such as Mineplex. Charging $50 for a "disguise" has money hungry written all over it. Just play the game and be satisfied.
This is a picture of it I found off of Google. Probably the most honest representation. There will be a bunch of kids, parents, and nerds there, talking about Minecraft, playing Minecraft, and taking selfies of themselves to post on Facebook. These are the people who will get capes. And we won't, because we are lowly peasants. The shame!

A cool idea from the first look, but really, this would be the fist step to senseless microtransactions. Once Microsoft sees that the playerbase is willing to spend money on this kind of thing, it won't take long before paid DLC is available.

No. I would not pay to get a cape. The thing that separates Minecraft from other games is that it's a one-time payment, then the rest if free. If they made you buy capes, imagine what else they could charge you for- Updates, skins, "special" blocks, mods, texturepacks.... the list goes on. On top of that, the capes people got at Minecon will be worthless because anyone could get one.
Not trying to be mean, but I don't want DCL in minecraft. Btw, you get used to people hating your ideas and saying stuff like "NO SUPPORT"!!!!!!!. Learned that on the suggestions section... XD
eh i dont know. but i really dont want to have alot of little kids bragging about the capes they bought. and i saw a guy trying to sell his account with a cape on it for like 500 dollars...

There would have to be more involved with the pack, but then again, the lack of buying add-ons is what makes Minecraft so good. You don't have to buy add-ons to "win" the game!
