Lots of people heard about the Herobrine myth, and many facts about him are twisted. Here is a thread containing all the facts. We need your help to build on this thread to please help!
3. Many people have stated that they have seen Herobrine, but they are all fake. Here's some possibility of why they saw Herobrine:
A.They lied
It was a photoshop/prank/mod
B.It was a glitch
Many glitches are in minecraft, and a person may mistaken a player accidentally spawned as Herobrine. (The Steve skin)
C. They have a corrupt minecraft
If the META-INF folder is missing and you never deleted/modded minecraft, that might be a big sign that someone is pranking you by giving you a false minecraft file. This may be the reason that random caves with beds are spawning.
If the META-INF is there, there still might be a chance that you have a corrupt minecraft. Someone could have pranked you by corrupting the META-INF code.

I'm Glad that you stated that Herobrine is not real, cause there is a lot of n00bs that swear that Herobrine is real, or will believe anyone who says he is.
While I appreciate you trying to spread the word about Herobrine being fake, we don't allow discussion of Herobrine outside of fan art sections or mods/maps that feature him.

1. First of all, Herobrine is a hoax from its origin. Copeland had made this up, and this is a picture of his story: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/File:1283223082465.jpg
2. The Mojang team stated multiple times that Herobrine is fake on the Minecraft wiki: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Herobrine
