Can someone please tell me how to report a certain Minecraft player? Someone said some really nasty and sexually explicit things to my 13 yr old daughter the other day. He called her a name no girl should ever be called. She has never had any issues like this before and she's been playing it for quite some time. I understand that people swear and such and get mad at other players but the things he said to her were just uncalled for. He had no idea who he was talking to nor did he care. As far as I'm concerned he is a bully among other things....

He's probably just a 12 year old hiding behind a computer screen, offending people simply because he was told not to. People like that are what gives the Minecraft community a bad reputation.
Anyways, unless you took a screenshot of him in the act, then there is very little that can be done. I suppose you could head over to the forums of the server that your daughter was playing on and file a complaint, but unless you have specific evidence, than I doubt that the server moderators will take any action. If you do have evidence, such as a screenshot, then that would most likely be a permanent ban from the server. If he was saying sexually explicit things and is an adult, then legal action could even be taken, considering your daughter is a minor.
If he does keep on with the offensive language, remember to press F2 to take a screenshot. Or if you're on a Mac, press FN+F2.
Best of luck to you.

Yeah probably some entitled little punk....Thank you for the advice Zombie Killer. She did not get a screen shot but I will let her know what you said and tell her that if it happens again, to do just that. That's an excellent idea. It makes me furious that she can't play a game and enjoy it because of ppl like that. Makes me even more furious that I can't see whoever it was so I can address them face to face... Though that could be dangerous for them... Anyways, thank you much!!!
Unfortunately, the only place you would be able to report anything is somewhere specific to the server she was playing on. Other than the basic articles in the EULA, players are basically allowed to do whatever they please on their own servers and it's up to players to administrate themselves using the in-game tools or server-side plugins and mods.
You'll have to take it up with the owner or administrators of that server. Honestly, pustulent children posting horrible things they don't understand to try and get a reaction out of people is a very common thing in any online game without chat filtering. It's not going to be just that one player, but if it is a small server, perhaps they'd be able to take him out of the equation and that would be good enough.

Aeroisticon was right, but if you didn't know you can take a screenshot by pressing 'F2'. Also i'm not sure what server you were on, but some servers are particularly bad for things like this, so just be careful, If its a small server, something with only fifty people or so on at a time, I'd switch, as there are probably many servers with similar content but a better community, which I'll list a few. On larger servers, it's unusual for you to find similar content and its less likely to be the community. Good luck!
A server I frequent and that does it's best to be family friendly with features such as a chat filter, and easy to use report system (Just types /modreq).
Name: Fraizcraft
Server Address: fraizcraft.serveminecraft.net
It might also pay for you to do some research into how to create a private whitelisted server, so your daughter can play with her friends (and maybe her parents) without being subjected to random unsavories.
The risk in multiplayer is that you really can't control who you come in contact with, particularly if you visit other peoples' servers. Getting to know the admins and owners of the servers she usually goes to is another good step for the concerned parent. Not that you're trying to get someone in trouble, but learning about who runs the servers and what kind of behaviors are allowed is a step towards knowing if that's the kind of place you want your daughter to be.
There are a lot of dedicated communities that adhere to family-friendly rules and have excellent filters and staff on at all times. Take a good look at what's out there and maybe you'll find a better landing pad for your daughter.

As far as I know, there is no way of reporting a certain MC player, thus no possibility of banning him from online play. However, it seems like your daughter is playing on a Multiplayer server. So, you can report it to the staff of the server and have them take the appropriate action if verbal abuse is considered an offense. (Many servers consider it an offense, but be sure to know the rules for the server she's playing on) The c onsequences may range from a warning to a permanent ban, depending on the server rules. (A temporary/permanent mute is often seen as fair punishment but again, know the rules)
Sometimes the staff will take your word for what happened without any further questions, (know what the staff is looking for in a report of this nature) but it's a good idea to take a screenshot to prove what you're saying is true. I'm not saying I don't believe your story, (a 12 year old girl should not be seeing such language and not experience such abuse) but a screenshot with the bad language will put the nail in the coffin for the player in question and should guarantee action. (If you don't know how to take a screenshot, how to access the screenshot, or how to post the screenshot on a forum, look it up, there are numerous tutorials)
This is just an opinion, but I agree with your opinion about him. (opinions everywhere lol) It wouldn't be as big of a deal for me since I know what he's saying was unfounded and uncalled for, and I would just ignore him. (And expose him for the kind of person he is) But obviously you want him to live up to his word especially because you don't want your daughter subjected to such language again.
Don't take my word for absolute truth, but hopefully my post has helped you out in some way or another. And if you need some clarification on anything I said, just reply.
She did not know how to do the screenshot, so thank you for that info. I get that these are the chances you take when you play online with ppl and if whoever it was had called her the B word and that's all they had said I wouldn't even be here, she can handle that herself. But when you call someone the C word and the other stuff he said, then Mamma Bear comes out. I am giving her all the advice you have all given me and I greatly appreciate it since I am Minecraft Illiterate.... 😉 The server is PhanaticMC.
It is possible to get a copy of the server logs and see exactly what somebody said, although I don't know if they are willing to (they should though) or if they keep the logs around to save space. Also, not sure about multiplayer but in singleplayer the client will print out anything said in the chat; singleplayer is almost the same as multiplayer with its own local server so the client may do the same when in multiplayer; the log files are saved in your .minecraft folder (click on "edit profile" in the launcher and click on "open game directory" to access it) in "logs", use a zip utility to open the one dated the day it happened (assuming you are on a current version; older versions use the "output-client.log" file in the main folder).
If you do want to report a player you can go to the forums of that server and create a account and report him. But then again some server's allow player's to cuss, if you're concerned about you're daughter getting called name's I would look at the server forum's before you let her join it and make sure its Okay for her to play on the server, looking at the server's forum's is always a good idea.
Thank you... It's not so much the cussing, she pays no attention to that. It's the fact that he whispered to her only and it was pretty nasty, she's never had to deal with something like that before. I was shocked, even though it is the internet.
I'd suggest helping her find a server with a white-list, so no random people can get on just to do what that person did, some people can be very immature, and they don't always think when writing certain stuff, sadly there is no way to report this unless you have proof, and the server must have rules against this, I do agree that there are some stuff people say on servers that should not be said to younger people or people in general, and I find it sad that there is no real way to report this behavior, I also wish you could just turn chat off all together on some servers, but the problem is that there are going to be tonnes of stupid people on servers shouting out immature stuff like that guy did, another thing you could do is just not allow your daughter to play servers, but I have a feeling she wouldn't like that, I really do wish there was some official rules set in place for Minecraft servers, and a way to report this, but unless that happens there is nothing we can do.

Like I mentioned above, I really recommend O.K. It's a great place to play Minecraft. And for the problem on hand, I suggest contacting the server administrators or other staff members. They should be able to reprimand the wrongdoer. And, if they don't or can't, I suggest finding a new server. I know that one person doesn't necessarily represent an entire community, but that's just what I would do if I was in your position.

It's okay to be yourself. Just don't do anything illegal. That's a no-no.
