Ok, I am seriously freaking out right now! I had this world in Minecraft and I spent months working on it (although no diamonds, only emeralds). Anyway, so something happened to my laptop and since I have Windows 8, I was able to refresh my PC, it's like a reformat but your files are safe. After I refreshed, my save was still there, because it was in my user account folder. Anyway, I haven't played Minecraft in a while and decided to go back to it today, so I logged in as normal, and it downloaded the version, but when I clicked Singleplayer, NOTHING! I panicked! I went in my appdata folder, NOTHING! So far, I have tried everything I could think of, including using MULTIPLE deleted files recovery software (OSForensics, eSupportUndeletePlus, and PC Inspector File Recovery). I think I may have a backup on my old hard drive but I need an IDE to USB converter my dad has one but I couldn't find it. So I am literally BEGGING this ENTIRE community here to tell me a way to recover it. PLEASE, I'M DESPERATE! I NEED your help guys! Thank you for at least reading this.
This is an easy solve. It happened to me before and I fixed it as such. Just follow the instructions I have for you:
Open up %appdata% in your computer and open the minecraft folder. You'll notice that it will have all the basic things like resource pack folders and other things. Go to the maps section and you'll fin it empty(unless you created a world already. Then right click inside and go to properties and find previous versions. If you've saved your old world, you should find it there. Reload it, open minecraft, boom, problem solved. Only problem is, I did this on a windows 7 computer and it might be different on a windows 8. Don't worry, just try it first.
Man, stop hyperventilating!
It's a game for God's sake, deal with it!

Good luck
If that doesn't work, sorry, but you can probably just make a new world and start over. It's not that big of a deal. It's a game.

Anyway - good luck with it, hope someone will get you a successful answer.
If not - my advice is to create a new world in creative mode, build everything that you remember, and.. do /gamemode s.
I'm sorry,
