1. Nobody wants to buy titles or pets.
2. This means every major minecraft server is going to be shut down.
3. This is going to cause a major uprising and basically be the SOPA thing from last year.
REVOLT MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
I don't get how legally mojang can tell server owners they can accept money for a block of dirt but not for diamonds. Money is money, regardless where it comes from. You are still monetizing off of in game items. This is really an all or nothing thing.

there is a easy way to tell if you donation is classed as legal
Dose your donation effect game play in any way, if so then its illegal
colored names /ranks =legal
pets particle effects things that do no effect the way one plays the game
restricting game play to get donation = illegal
selling currency ingame for money = illegal
Its pretty simple those who say what about custom mods thats not mojangs property well sorry to bust your bubble,
but you agreed that any mods made for minecraft are mojangs property says so clearly that you must allow them full rights to these mods to use and share in any way they like. so no selling stuff from mods = illegal too
you can still sell items and go against there terms but you risk them being able to shut you down so its upto you to decide to follow rules or dont
something that gives no advantage vs something that might give an advantage.
Monetizing is still monetizing, it does not matter what you sell (unless you are restricting a vanilla feature to all non donors)
It also frustrates me how a good portion of people are blindly supporting it just because it is what mojang wants. Please think for yourselves and form your own opinion on why this will be bad and good.

This. Mojang is now just acting like a bunch of Nazi's.
Even ELECTRONIC ARTS and ACTIVISION (okay, not really activision anymore, but back when they had dedicated servers in 2010) restrict against selling in game perks, like reserved slots, double XP etc; and you KNOW you're bad when you sink lower than EA. Valve allows it in ALL of their games, custom camos, more ammo, better guns to start etc. This is how communities survive in the gaming world, it's how they always have, and it's simply because people WILL NOT donate for nothing, and I don't blame them.
I've also heard there are a few big communities exempt from this EULA. If this is in fact true - then it's all about money for Mojang, and they've turned into another company who was built by the community and gave them the middle finger. Playing favorites and picking and choosing? In light of that, if I were any other server, I'd keep doing what I've been doing, and that's that. If Mojang is going to play dirty like that, I'll give them a bit fat middle finger back.
Mojang, you didn't build Minecraft, we did; and let's be honest here - Minecraft was a fluke. Right place at the right time. You're amateur programmers who fluked out on a good idea. I say amateur because you seem to make it worse and worse with every major release. Considering how LITTLE you've actually done for your own game, do you REALLY want to bite the hand that's been feeding you for the last few years? WE made you your millions. Not you.

yet Mojang still control minecraft, its they're property and we as a players still depend on them to support us, whether you accept it or not its not going to change this fact.
Can we sell ranks that are very hard to get in game?
And can we setup a donation thing someone donates then EVERYONE has perms to the kit? An d i own an op prison server and most op prison servers have buy able ranks... (suffix with warp perms)
Im kind of happy this is taking place. Servers should NOT sell overpriced items. However these servers can't run without them. So I'd say 30USD is the max amount u can charge for something.

All the servers are going to be pay to play now because they can't make money otherwise xD
Seriously thought, you need donations to actually keep a expensive server up.
so maybe this mark the end of the expensive servers.
communities change and adapt, this could be a change in the minecraft community.
cant say if good or bad tough its open to debate

All the comments here in a nutshell: "GG", followed by a Dust-Bowl-sized for the ages. Truly this is an 'Murican thread, for everyone is arguing over already set rules.

Assumptions, assumptions everywhere.
Explain this block of dirt stuff?

It is just an example as something that gives no advantage.
But they can.
Some servers should come out alive, one I know is Hypixel's. They are unaffected, luckily.
Be sure to quote my post if you want me to respond.

This is probably one of the stupidest comparisons I've ever heard. Apparently enforcing rules is now just as bad as bigotry and genocide.
Is this ok? Please post your opinions!

A donation is something given to you in the intent of nothing given in return.
A purchase is something you would buy and get something in return.
So when a server asks for a donation that is completely fine.
But when a server advertises a purchase… lets say….
You can Buy "DiamondVIP" for 50USD and then say its a donation to support us. Its wrong. Its not a donation its a purchase. You…. Your going places
