Now I don't ususally post topics on things like this, but I feel like it is important now.
There has been a few tweets by @notch regarding updates to the Minecraft EULA, enforcing rules against selling in-game perks for money and donations.
I personally suspect this may have something to do with Mojang's new Minecraft Realms,
By removing the ability to sell perks in-game, many large servers will have to shut down due to lack of profit and the players who have left these servers may resort to Mojang's Minecraft Realms.
Sadly Minecraft Realms is not seen as a serious option for most Minecraft Users and most of the Minecraft users I have talked to would not even go near Minecraft Realms at all.
The point is up to 95% of Minecrafts player base still play due to these large servers and without them these servers players may quit the game alltogether, this could potentially destroy Minecraft's player base.
Woah, there are too many threads like this around lately. I understand your frustration against the new rule change, but I don't really think that is the case..
I don't really know, but i think there's multiple reasons.

If I make another move there'll be no more turning back~

This is just like the "anti-trolling" rule all over again, I do belevie we may be misconieiving this slighty.
But it is very obvious that Mojang is against in-game purchase of perks and it trying to do something about it.
Sigh. I'm not even going to bother tailoring a post to your topic. This is just the exact same counter-arguments being brought up against the exact same arguments brought up by different people who do not bother to read the other dozen existing threads, as well as the front page article on the subject. Have a recycled post instead:
If they stop in-game purchases, servers will be unable to run these large servers that can cost up to $10,000/month to keep them online. Without donations these servers will die and so will the player base.
Long time minecrafter here chiming in. As someone who has never had any desire to go on one of these for-profit pay-to-pay servers, or ever known anyone in my large number of friends who play minecraft on anything other than a small server with friends, I can say that I support Mojang's side on this.
I have a feeling most of this backlash is coming from an incredibly small number of people who are very upset that they may have to work for a living instead of extorting the people who want to play on their server.
