As of recently I have been getting bored of minecraft, I play vanilla and tekkit but find it really repetitive. Any suggestions for challenges/mods that will spice things up? Thanks

Use the Archimedes Ship mod. You can do some really cool things. Or you could try the tale of kingdoms mod.

I prefer mods that add more resources and I have already made tons of worlds with tons and tons of resources.

try to work your imagination. It's like LEGOs, you should never see the end of what you can create there.

Get some more ores and more tools, armor, and weapons Kind of mods

There are an infinite number of things you can do in vanilla minecraft. Sounds crazy right? You should make a singleplayer survival world (unless you are attached to an old one). Then start surviving. Make a nice farm. Once you know you won't starve to death anytime soon go out any find somewhere amazing to build. What you can do to make your terrain even cooler is in world options change it to "AMPLIFIED". Once you find your perfect place start making some farms. I suggest either a cow or a potato farm. Now you have a reliable source of food you can start mining. I hope you know who to do that. Once you have your diamond pick and enchanting table try to find a spawner or go out at night and hunt. get to level 30 and enchant your diamond pick and hope for the best (fortune 3 hopefully). Now its time to build anything.

A nice thing to have is a basic mob spawner.

Then start on a house
Or maybe a villager trading hall


Defeat the enderdragon yet?

How about a tree farm?

Or an iron farm.

Or maybe a gold farm?

If that is not enough I'm sorry for you.

It might help if you took a break from Minecraft after reading this post and ponder for a month. There are also an unlimited ideas to do with Redstone.

If your getting bored there is one game in minecraft I never get bored of its called walls ill give you the ip and when you join do /server w(1-50) it should entertain you for a while the ip is mineca.de thats the ip

Just google servers, and play them.

When I get bored, I like to set a goal for myself that can be done easily in creative. It might be a castle, giant statue, recreation of a location (from other video games or IRL), some redstone contraption. But instead of going with it in creative, I try to accomplish them in survival. Ironically, building them can get boring at times. If that happen, take a break from the game for a month or so.

everyone admits that Boredom kills,
I suggest learning the things you don't know in Minecraft so you can become a better player at the game,
Examples include;
-Redstone
-XP farms
-Farming (Yes Farming,)
-Grinders
These should give you some things to do.

I haven't even played the game since November because I've gotten so bored of it. Maybe I will start it up some day.

some people do get board of it but have never lost the passion for it. Actually, alot of modders dont play minecraft. maybe learning java as a hobby?

Well, you could join my server in the signature, we have more challenging mobs, and other stuff. But The real way to do that, is to set yourself some goals or play with some close friends.
