Personally, I think we should cut a bit the categories. Too many of them isn't good. We should stick to the basic one (any% and 100% with their variation).
I see what you mean, bu I think that as long as a category is run it should stay. If a category seems dead after a long time it will go, since it's pointless, if it gets a run it'll get adeded back but if it dies again it will be hidden again, and so on. The smaller categories are easier and more fun to run/race, since any% categories are either monotonous and repetitive or RNG Hell because of its legth and requirements. And the 100% equivalent (All Achievements) is not possible without having an even larger amount of categories since achievements change. (1.8 is adding new achievements). Full Iron Armor&15lvls is a race category that will be going soon because 1.8 will change the exp system, for example.
Don't you think It would be a better Idea just to create a category entitled "Mine diamond", where all you have to do is "mine" the diamond and not "getting a diamond"?
I was thinking that, but there's then the issue that someone will find, say, iron in a village a mine or a dungeon. Also, there can also be villager trading as a reasonable method to obtaining diamond. in the end, structures off sounds like a better rule for 'mine diamond' than just require to mine from the ore, as structures off means no dungeons, no mineshafts, no temples, and no villages. It reduces the RNG of the category enough to make it more competitive and more skill based than resetting for a village/dungeon/mine.
This separation will eventually happen with other categories if they keep being relevant, emerald and diamond is the beginning. Enter Nether will have this same thing, just later, since villages have a chance of having 10 obsidian in a chest, along with an iron ingot.
Do you guys use any particular settings in OBS to make your recordings/streams brighter when caving? I have them set to Bright in Minecraft itself, and don't want to mod to do so (unless that's fine of course). Preferably would want it brighter for people watching my runs, but no different for me playing the game itself.
There's something you can do if you use game capture. In properties raising the 'gamma' slider increases brightness. I usually have it at 1.15 for minecraft. I highly recommend that you don't go over 1.20, because it will either look bad or make people think you have a brightness mod, or both.
The 100% run is the "All achievement" one. The thing is MInecraft isn't like most game. It doesn't have a percentage completion. So a real 100% can't exist since there's no indicator of percentage of completion. The achievement are the closest thing you get to a progression in Minecraft.
EDIT: Well apparently the category I just told you about has been taken away... Anyone want to tell what happened to it?

We decided to not have that category take space on the leaderboards until there was at least a run of it. We are currently routing Set Seed All Achievements, but we may stop and wait so we can use a 1.8 seed.
I was thinking of doing a run for "Any% Set Seed Glitchless" but I ran into a little problem. I don't know the seed I am supposed to use. If someone could respond with the seed, that would be fantastic. Thanks.
I think we shouldn't do custom map and stick to the original game just to lower the amount of category a bit. If someone make a run of one map, someone else will one want to do one of another map and on and on. And we can't just say yes to one map and no to an other. So we shouldn't add these runs to the leaderboard. If there's enough speedrunners for one map, they can simply make their own leaderboard or post it on the map's post.

It would be way to difficult for everyone to produce their own leaderboard for their own map. Ideally, we'd just have one leaderboard for every custom map ever speedrun. He said at one point that he was in the process of producing one, but he never went through with it. If Izraill doesn't make a Custom map leaderboard, and if Zmangames continues his lack of updating his leaderboards, I might create my own. I really don't see the problem with saying yes to every map. Category spam is a problem, but not if you think of every map as it's own game. Stopping a custom map from appearing on a leaderboard would be like banning a game from SRL, on the grounds that there were too many games and they had to cut one. Minecraft is less of one game and more of a collection of smaller ones.

We should sort them by creator like hypixel, vechs, bodil40, etc. Then put the maps people speed run from them user their name. For unknown map creators or maps created by one person we can put them in a miscellaneous sub set.

Yeah, that could work. I set up a basic Hypixel Leaderboard, but it's pretty basic. It would probably be better to make one big leaderboard, and just organize by page.

EDIT: Never mind, we can start now, Frozen Ocean and Extreme Hills Edge are not on the PC Version!
I made a hypixel specific one, just to keep my records organized. bit.ly/HypixelLeaderboard
