There's a special command which I like to use in creative worlds. It gives a special technical block that looks great in building. /give Edwardos 43 1 8
Can also be used for weird sandstone.
But as most people know by now, numerical data values aren't going to be supported for very long. In 1.7 it even says so, when you use numbers as data values for any appropriate command. Apparently that is to do with the development of the modding API.So now the command we're meant to use is /give @p minecraft:double_stone_slab but as far as I know, there's no way to add damage values.
The closest thing I can find to this block, while using the new command syntax:
Is this:
Which is what /give @p minecraft:double_stone_slab will put in your inventory.
There's nothing about full slabs on the wiki under the technical blocks page anymore.
Now, I'm not certain at all that this wonderful block won't be placeable in challenge maps in the near future. But I'm pretty sure that soon the only way will be MCedit, similar programs, or inventory editors - if we're lucky.
Kindly correct me if I'm wrong.
Edit: I was wrong. Use the command provided by Zaberz below to get full slab blocks.
So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
