I don't see how from one kid's actions, you can generalize something. Now if there were multiple kids doing this, I may have been tempted to agree with the article. But from just one example? Hell no

The title was very misleading, You sounded like a reporter from Fox News or something.
No it's not, A game that they spent a few months added Horses. No.
Then those parents REALLY need to look into the game much more... on the other hand, they also need to lock up anything harmful that the kid might not know can kill!
Wow, here I am, someone who rarely plays super violent games, playing the extremely Violent Murder game "Minecraft"
Seriously, did they CHECK the game before immediately blaming it? I Mean, come on. The LEAST they could've done is check to see if the kid/his parents play games like DayZ, Call of Duty (the zombie one) or some other zombie killing game.
I'm doing a report on how video games rarely hurt a child's development. How in Terraria am I supposed to show that Video Games aren't bad if THIS article makes an appearance!?

My avatar-Madison Gotha. She knows various weapons, she's a mage/sage, and is somewhat immortal. Madison has the capability of taming and communicating monsters, a genetic trait passed down by her father. 26 physically, 1400-something mentally, and a Lofty Peakian/Zenithian mix. Doesn't really like being called an elf and hates being called human..
I might be Moderator, but don't bother treating me too special. And don't make tons of Ban Hammer jokes, please. Also, I'm an Off-Topic only Mod. Don't ask me to lock a thread or something if it's not in the off-topic
Yeah, violent crime rates have dropped as video game sales have increased. The best way to decrease violent crime, if you believe that correlation equals causation, as the "such-and-such a mass murderer played video games" types apparently do, would be to hand out free games for everyone.
As for that kid... let me get this straight:
He took a gun, ammunition, a steak knife, and a hammer to school ... in order to re-enact a game which does not contain guns, ammunition, steak knives, hammers, schools -- or zombies that come out in the daytime. So, in fact, no element of the situation had any parallel in Minecraft.
I like how the drop in crime rates from 2006 to 2010 corresponds perfectly with the increased sales of CoD. Maybe people will now be abit more thankful to video games for having been a likely cause for LESS crime in society. Because the criminals are busy playing CoD and not mugging Grandma.
Just because MAJORITY of crime rates fell down doesn't mean they don't still happen because of Call of Duty, and there are likely plenty of bad acts related to Call of Duty that do NOT get in trouble with the law. Yes, it seems Call of Duty brought people into less heinous acts, but they still do things the law doesn't care about but are still bad.

I'm not saying that video games cause nobody to do anything bad, but the majority of people don't and a small group feels like they can do what they saw in games.
How does this relate to Minecraft? I mean Guns, knifes? I hate it when they blame games for crimes. I get that some are caused because of games but I mean some of them make no sense like this one. Another with a kid shot his mom in the head with a gun they blamed it on GTA ignoring that the kid was 8 years old and the gun was in reach point.

Minecraft doesn't even have guns in it. Or hammers. What do you all think of this?
Someone read the "Hypochondriac's pocket guide to horrible diseases you probably already have"

Just going to say that was sarcasm...

Hey everyone, I'm back!
Yeah the title sort of mislead my mind in the beginning, when I first read it
"On a scale of one mile to Lord of the Rings, how far did you walk today?"
Besides, if the parents think that the game is that bad, then they shouldn't have let him play it.

Actually, Call of Duty has (in a complicated way) and so did Grand Theft Auto. You mean SMART kids.
