I've seen Skydoesminecraft, Deadlox, ChimneySwift, and many other youtubers do this. Cut down wood and make a wooden pick axe. But you don't stop there, you also make wooden tools such as swords and hatchets. Why won't you take the time to punch 3 blocks of grass beneath you and get some cobblestone and use stone tools and weapons instead of wood? And the first thing you do after getting wood is get cobblestone. You make those stone tools and weapons and never used one point of durability on your wooden tools and sword. Why do you waste wood and time like that? What strategy is that? Why are you guys idiots?

Wood is such an easy resource to get you might as well make the other wooden tools at times. Even if you don't use them before you get stone, you could simply use them as fuel in a furnace so they don't go to waste.

Hey, don't go around complaining to everyone when not the entire community does it. I don't. I only make a wooden pickaxe and then I move on to stone tools.

I think some people might like to achieve all of their Acomplishments. Its a matter of personal choice. And getting wooden items fills that criteria. Just my 2 cents

I like that wooden tools can be used for fuel in the IC2 mod.

Does it even matter? It's THEIR problem, THEIR choice to use them as firewood, so don't complain about something so damn small that none of us even care about.

I don't do that. I used to, but then I learned that 3 blocks of wood is enough to get you enough stone for a furnace & a full arsenal of Stone Tools. All I make is a shovel & a pick, then I just start digging down until I hit stone.

It is a bit pointless, isn't it? All I ever do with wood is make an axe to speed up the tree-chopping, then make a pick that I use for about five seconds.

I am guilty of doing this a few times. I completely understand what you mean, and I have done this several times.

I would imagine many people have different strategies when they're first starting out on a fresh world.

Yes, it would make more sense to go straight from wooden pick to stone pick and then make other tools accordingly, but i guess it just works for them, they're probably just used to starting out that way.

Maybe you should stop paying so much attention to other people and what they do, and reflect on yourself and your attitude towards the world. Who cares if they choose to use wood? Does it affect you in any way? No.
