Since the zombie update I've been finding it increasingly difficult to get records from Creeper drops. With the zombies HUGE aggro radius I keep getting either interrupted, or the creeper ends up swarmed with large groups of zombies acting as a giant meat shield. And woe to the poor skeleton trailing behind, he ends up getting ripped apart the moment he accidentally hits one of his zambie cousins...
I'm not gonna and moan about it, because well... The update is as it is, it's not gonna change just because I want it to. So I pose the question.
Has anyone uncovered any decent strategies to getting the discs in Survival without zombie interference? I'm wracking my brain trying to think of traps or techniques I can use, but I got nothing useful so far.
Use a villager as a distraction. They are easy to trap from zombies now as there are so many of them.
Heal him up and protect him, let him work his magnetism.
Leaving you to do the creeper/skeleton dance for discs.
I've been doing just that for twenty minutes or so now.
Around half of the zombies flock to the village, but I still got 50% of them tailing me, considering every zombie within 60 blocks or so is homing in on me that's still a LOT.
What I did was place a fence all around my house with a gate to let in a zombie villager. Killed the zombies until I got a zombie villager on his own, then let him in. Healed him, then trapped him. The zombies just all flood to the fence now and stand there staring at him.
make a disc farm by luring the creeper and the skeleton into a zombie-protected pit.
Yeah was trying that earlier. It's not impossible to get the creeps and skelies to fall in, but it's damn near impossible to stop the zombies from falling in too. I end up with the same problem, too much clutter, and when they're packed that tightly in there poor Bones gets his butt handed to him when he hits one of the zeds.
I'm sure persistence is the key, but I really don't want to spend two hours just trying to get one disc.
I'll think of something...
Just need to work Around the zombies some how rather than through them....
