i mean, they were basically just the tops of wool

i would have liked them a lot more had they not looked just like wool

I wish they had more types of carpets rather than making it look like a wool block.

No, not at all. Carpets are something the community has wanted for a long time. They are an easier to get alternative to wool. Useless? No. They can be used as welcome mats, blankets, towels,etc. For people saying it's useless, well it's a decoration block. I personally like that mojang is adding in more decoration blocks.

How could it have done better? Having little patterns? Because you can do that with a resource pack.

Nope. I use carpet all the time.

I don't find anything wrong with carpets really.

Carpets are for my lounge, not for some other thing. Wool is soft, so If Mojang changed it my lounge would be ruined! Well not really, but...

Well I like it, because you can make your floor look nice with less pieces of wool. The one problem I do have with it is the fact that you can't place your bed on the carpet. Its not a big deal though.

It can do great things, ex: invisible mazes, secret entrances, zombie traps (Docm has one in mindcrack), a lot of things!

They are not that bad because if you have a two story house instead of having 2 blocks 1 for a celing and the other for wool you can have 1 for the celing and 1 carpet block cuting down on the amount of space used

I personally thought they were a great idea. They can actually lead to some creative ideas, and I would much rather be able to use carpets over blocks than having to make the floor solely out of wool. Although if you don't like them, I guess I can understand why, since other than decorative purposes, they are virtually useless, unlike wool.

Agreed.

Along with what everyone else is saying.. I use carpet blocks to mark where my building walls should be if im building something huge and I want things even.. I'll lay them where they should be and line everything up that way. They may seem somewhat useless at first but in the end help with the building process.. Yeah I could use other blocks but these are bright and in many different colors..

I had the impression that carpets would be entities, which would basically allow carpet pitfall traps.

That would still be cool to have.

Yeah I would just rather use a plain wool block
