My friends have just recently started a new server in Minecraft, since the last one had been completely griefed.
Although, when we started it, within a few hours there was somebody already hacking it. He is invisible, somehow talkes through the actual server itself, and sets traps and greifs all over in op mode even though we never opped him. We never opped him or gave anyone else the ip for the server, so I don't understand how he got on. Also, he can somehow listen to us talking through our mics and webcams which is really creepy. We aren't even using headsets, he just hacks through the mics, at least that's what he says he's doing. Is there any way to make him visible, ban him, both, or anything that will stop him griefing? My friend is really upset because his house he worked hard oh has been blown up, and that really es me off, so any help would be widely appreciated.
Not even all hackers in the world found way to join server with server not saying his name. And hacking mic/cam. Its one of your friends using invisible potion while in creative. End of story
I originally thought the same thing, but I watched everyone's screens and made sure no one was typing, and I was watching them more messages popped up. Plus, blowing up an entire house is just cruel by our standards.
It is possible, unfortunately. No program is 100% secure and given the nature and vulnerabilities of Java it self it is possible that once a hacker found an in, they could also find a way into individual connected systems also. Taking control of a mic and cam is nothing more then then a remote call coming from java. I fact there are many different programs that do this already with or with out the users knowledge.
Unfortunately, if the hacker is that skilled then there is little to do about it. They would most likely find ways around any white listing. They may though be exploiting vulnerabilities in your server software that you can patch, but you would need to talk to some one experienced with IT and server maintenance. May be posting in a Java related development forum would get you better success as those would be the people with the skill sets you need.
Sounds like thsi camp I went at. Where some teenagers learned to create mods. I saw them joining Lan worlds as Player668 and stuff and speedhacking. Id shut down your server for the time being.
