I can not even tell you how many posts I have seen about Jeb ruining Minecraft. Most of them do not even back up there claim on why they don't like him. He did NOT ruin Minecraft. He improved it. Everyone who starts those posts about how Jeb ruined Minecraft or how he is leading it in the "wrong direction" are probably just nostalgia players who miss how Notch would start things and not finish them. Jeb is doing a great job at Mojang, and I am sick of seeing people complain about all the hard work he does.

I completely agree with you, it's nice to see someone else who shares this thought. :-)
Anyway, I agree. Jeb improved Minecraft quite alot. However, I feel kinda partial about Horses. Many other games have ridable Horses, but I doubt there's any game with saddled pigs. I think that Horses made Minecraft a bit less unique.
I'm about 50% satisfied with Jens's work on Minecraft. He didn't ruin it, but it's not as good as if Notch had kept at it.
Notch left the game out of self-lack interest. Would you really believe the game would be better if he would have forced himself to keep developing something he had no interest in continuing? Jeb was appointed by Notch, if Notch gave Jeb that power than Notch saw in Jeb that Jeb wanted to make Minecraft into the vision Notch wanted. Has it come to the slight possibility that maybe, just...maybe that Jeb is doing exactly what Notch would have done?
Jeb is doing a fine job. I think he's continuing on with what Notch has always wanted out of this game. Notch left us, he has a right too, if he didn't find interest, then it's probably for the best he didn't force himself to keep developing content. The game is fine, as is.
Agreed. Did you know that Notch was currently working on NPC Villages but gave the task to Jeb? To be honest, if Jeb wants the game to be popular, he should add stuff not very many games have.

So I have been thinking about this whole Notch vs Jeb thing, and here is my stake on it:
Notch has been thus far the better developer. He started Minecraft from the ground up and it was his ideas that made the game we all know and love. Back when he was first making Minecraft you could tell he was passionate and loved his blocky creation, go to his Youtube channel and watch all the videos of it in development and then watch his video of when Minecraft won the Edge award. You can tell he was very proud of the game he had made. However, Jeb taking over was a necessary step in Minecraft's development. While Notch used to be passionate about Minecraft, after the engine was complete and the groundbreaking features started to slow, he started to become bored with working on it, and if Notch were still in charge today there is no guarantee that it would even still be receiving updates. So while Notch has been the better developer, Jeb is the one who has had the dedication to take the reins and bring Minecraft this far. Both developers were needed in their own way and have served their purposes. And I will admit that I sometimes get nostalgic as well and wish we could have Alpha back, with Notch working on the game and the secret friday updates. Those were fun times, but the players need to learn to deal with change and come to face the fact that with a different developer, the game will change and become different from the original vision Notch had. However, no matter how much changes, at the heart of this game, is the dedication by each and every developer of Minecraft that has made it awesome in their own special way, so instead of arguing about all of this we should just accept Minecraft for what it is in its entirety, the good and the bad.
You ain't happy about where Minecraft is or going then leave. It's that simple, you can't cling to the past. What Jens has done is good like what Notch has done with Minecraft is good. You should be happy that there are many free big updates for a game that's already released. Don't like the new updates? Grab an Alpha Jar and play that for the rest Minecraft. i guarantee that you will get bored if you play Alpha because a lot of fun features will have been stripped.

If I may say something... Jeb didnt even do the 1.8 update. (The ruined MC update). That was Notch. Ask him, he'll take credit.
Clearly not ruined, they are gaining fans. Just... not the world's best update. If we could get some more focus on terrain...
Well, why is Cube World beating Minecraft in terrain? It's crazy, Minecraft is the one that's more about terrain.

I have discovered a truly remarkable proof of this, which this margin is too small to contain.

No offense to anyone in this thread at all, but Jeb has done something which no one wanted for Minecraft, he stopped actual Game Updates, and started adding in Decoration Updates, and that is pretty much it.
We haven't had any progress to any amazing gameplay updates since 1.0, there was soo many things notch had planned for the game which just stopped the moment he left Minecraft.
Decoration Updates = Destroying the game.
Actual Gameplay Updates = Will nourish the game.
Maybe fill those vast oceans with something worth while, there is no reason to even be there. Nor does anyone even like being there.

I could say the same thing about skeletons and zombies. Some of us like taking crummy horses out in our shiney spaceships because they are good companion animals, like dogs and cats.
I love Minecraft. It's my Mind Crack. I may have trouble getting the new method of mod loading down, but hopefully that will simplify in a further update. Some people like change, others don't. Some want to build, others want to kill. Put three people at a table with the same meal, one will say it's too salty, another will upend the salt shaker, the third will say "EEW!" and refuse to touch it. With this many downloads and this many people playing the game, SOMEONE ain't gonna be happy. Play what you do like, don't play what you don't like, and don't take the name calling personal unless it's someone you know. Then you can talk it out over (insert favorite beverage here).
Minecraft is how each person sees life as it SHOULD be, not as it IS. 11 million downloads means 11 million opinions.

It was just moved out of that section.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. FINALLY SOMEONE OPENED THERE EYES!
If you don't like the game in its current state, you can always download a previous version and play that, or modify it yourself.
Everyone has different opinions about what is and what isn't good for the game.
I for one like both the decorative updates because I'm a builder as well as gameplay updates.
The only thing that's ever been added that I really didn't like was the End.
But there's a simple solution: I simply don't go to the End.
Vergissmeinnicht.
Wait, someone griped about those, too.
