I love reading all the 1.6 haters (if that's what they're called?) reply.
It amuses me.
I'll ask again.
Are you implying that Mojang so should sacrifice minecraft being able to work on decent or not amazing computers for more complicated things? Minecraft needs optimization and should be available for everyone to use not just rich people with expensive computers.
are you kidding me,people these days cant efforde a house and you think they can get a new pc or mac.WoW
Quite the opposite. It depends on their class. I would describe myself as a middle class person. It takes hardly any money to SLIGHTLY upgrade a computer from what I've seen, so your argument is literally invalid.
Once again, not everybody can afford gaming computers. Spending $200+ to you or other people may not seem like much to get a new computer, but not everyone can do that. I still have to use my old windows XP that I got in 2003. What? Do you you think that evryone can just spend a couple hundred dollars for something like a new computer? Nope, I need food and water before I even consider getting a wallet or finishing up my PC parts shopping list.
Took about a month or two for my family to replace our PC.... sure aren't cheap these days.

Look, I'm not talking about a high-end gaming computer. Heck, it doesn't even have to be meant for gaming. You don't even need to buy a computer. Just upgrade some of the parts.

Alright, this is going to sound kinda weird (it's on me, not blaming anyone else for this) But I really prefer making/buying a new computer rather than getting individual parts and upgrading them. bleh.
I think a better way to put what the O.P. meant is that minecraft is a GAME, people who complain about it being laggy is probably because they don't have a powerful enough computer to run it at decent speeds. I don't blame Mojang for making it laggy, just don't complain if your pc can't run it @30 fps minimum (my laptop can't and I know it's not the game's fault) SO I AGREE with the OP. If you don't have a dedicated pc, don't complain about lag.
Mojang is a company right? They have made over 11 million sales with pc minecraft. Do you think they would have made this much if Minecraft couldn't run (and be playable) on an average computer? If the devs disregard (they haven't so far ) making sure that minecraft can run smoothly ( as much as possible ) then that would be bad. Take for example, the new lighting engine from I think 1.5 or 1.4 snapshots that was scraped. It was scraped because it would cause too much lag. That proves that the devs do care about whether or not things would make the game too laggy or whatever.
1) My FPS has gone up since I updated to 1.6. If yours went down, I'm not sure what to tell you.
2) Horses can be ignored. I for one have been using them to get bookshelves easier.
3) I like the new profile system in the new launcher.
4) That's probably best. My .minecraft has been much less cluttered without the extra folders.
My only real complaint is that my server started getting horrible block lag at night because of the new "zombie spawning other zombies" mechanics.

I agree with You, but just as it happens with almost every game that comes out ( and really, minecraft is like a whole new game every time a new update comes out, just like the Yogscast ironically says it. ) The requirements increase as new updates are released. I think I bought MC when it was in 1.2.5 and remember having little lag at all. Now i have to set everything to the lowest to be able to move without stuttering.

It's not completely invalid. Every state has a different cost of living. Try living in Hawaii where the cost of living is high and the average family has to work 2+ jobs to support their own family.

That's called bad optimization of the game on Mojang's part, as well as new engine mechanics that do indeed up the requirements. However, it shouldn't be causing that huge of a difference.
As for 1.6.1 and the topic starter, you do realize 1.6.1 lags a hell of a lot more than 1.5.2 and is filled with bugs up to your neck while playing, right? RIGHT?
I'm personally not getting anymore lag than before. Plus lag really depends on the server your playing on aswell.
Im still running lag-free at around 100 - 140 Fps depending on in-game weather.
I'll ask again.

don't expect me to be on much.

Also, the only lag I experience is on a horse at full speed.

Go look for trouble somewhere else please. You're encouraging it.
Same here.

Are you really this ignorant??
The anti-complainers are growing stronger!

I think horses, leads, carpets and all the rest are just awesome!
I think I have wanted horses since I first started minecraft...
