I'm glad you clicked on this topic! I was just reading through all the topics made in the Minecraft Discussion section (this section) and just seeing all the "1.6.1 SUCKS!" kind of topics is almost hilarious.
I read reasons like:
1.6 is too laggy
Horses suck so bad
The new launcher is bad
You can't get to the minecraft bin folder
And it humours me, honestly.
1.6 isn't wouldn't be laggy if you bothered to buy a computer/laptop that can actually play games. e.g. I use a Dell Latitude D630. Just put more RAM in and upgraded some drivers and it works perfect.
Horses don't suck. It's a way to get to places quicker. Here's some advice, that you would've heard maybe, 20 times or so, if you don't like something in the new update, DON'T USE IT!
The new launcher is bad, I agree but they're trying something new. I'm sure they'll pop a skin on it in the next update. I'm more than certain that they're trying out the new tabs, console etc. But yes, I agree it looks somewhat yuck without a skin of some sort.

With the new function in the new launcher, you can easily downgrade your minecraft, so instead of "putting up with it" you can now downgrade and be happy with 1.5!

Again, you don't have to use the new update if you don't like it. You don't even have to play the game for all we care. Blootz is just trying to explain why 1.6 isn't such a bad update.
1.6 is too laggy Everyone is different. Just because you lag doesn't mean the whole update is broken. Some have reported no performance changes or even better performance. It's totally dependent on the computer, but seriously, if a game can't play Minecraft, then maybe you should blame something other than Mojang.
Horses suck so bad Matter of opinion. As with everything, they are completely optional to use. Don't like them? Ignore them. As for the ways to tame it, you realize how poerful horses is right? It should be something hard to tame, and once you get it, you get that powerful ability of being such an incredibly fast controlled traveling machine. It's fine as it is.
The new launcher is bad Aesthically, maybe, functionality, no. The functionality of the new launcher is awesome. Change versions on the fly, change resolution, change directory, change RAM allocation...all built-in. Yeah, this launcher is just functionality better. Sure, it looks ugly, but why do you even care? You're only going to spend like a few seconds logging in, after which, it'll be hidden.

Okay I like 1.6 but seriously? That's the worst argument I have ever seen. Obviously there is something wrong if people suddenly experience drastic lag and other errors with1.6 . Telling people to buy a new computer/laptop as an excuse for this issue is just crap imo. I think minecraft needs an optimization update soon.... If optifine doesn't fix the lag/chunk problem in 1.6.1 then that means something is really really wrong.
EDIT: Basically I'm saying that if optifine doesn't help with the lag/chunk loading when it's finished for 1.6 then something is definitely wrong with 1.6

Blootz, 100% agreement with you, why hate on a one of a kind game that is unique. No other game out there is just like minecraft and updates regularly. Mojang should get some aprecitation for the great work they put into their games, not like other greedy companies. Everything is based on opinion, so this might turn into a flame war if your lucky.
Edit: Telling people to buy a better computer is the only thing that I don't agree with in your argument. Not everyone can afford a good computer. I play minecraft on an all in one computer (very bad choice for gaming).

Yes, but it would be much better to get a new computer. As stated above, if your computer can't handle Minecraft, you're probably having trouble in plenty of other games.

Yes, but it would be much better to get a new computer. As stated above, if your computer can't handle Minecraft, you're probably having trouble in plenty of other games.
Once again, not everybody can afford gaming computers. Spending $200+ to you or other people may not seem like much to get a new computer, but not everyone can do that. I still have to use my old windows XP that I got in 2003. What? Do you you think that evryone can just spend a couple hundred dollars for something like a new computer? Nope, I need food and water before I even consider getting a wallet or finishing up my PC parts shopping list.
They stated their opinions and you stated yours so let's just be done with it and not argue over the fact that they should buy a new pc with that probably being the reason as to why 1.6 don't work well for them b/c we all know that not everyone can afford a new gaming PC.
