I don't understand how people get bored with Minecraft... Most of my friends have gotten bored with it... playing the game nearly for a year now, I just haven't stopped theirs just so much you CAN do... They get something going and then they just stop and I don't understand why... Well I'm gonna be honest if Minecraft was the same from when it first released, I would have left this game along time ago! but its not, they keep updating and adding in new things... And they make such cool stuff too! I mean me... meh I really don't have any creativity... I think most of my structures just look dull... lol but that hasn't kept me from playing it...
what reasons have you stopped playing Minecraft?
Why do you think people just stop playing Minecraft?
Bonus question: One of my friends really doesn't play Minecraft due to the graphics it has... I mean it gets texture packs but it still just isn't doing anything for him, would you say this is understandable/fair or just plain stupid?
I personally think its just plain stupid... I mean I think the reason why Minecraft has the graphics it has is so that even weaker computers can play it... I mean what was it? 11 million people have bought Minecraft? Do you really think that all of those people have super computers? no, the graphic levels that Minecraft is at right now I think helps so that everyone can enjoy the game despite having a semi-crappy computer.... This was just my guess though... feel free to correct me on the real reason why the graphics are the way they are lol....
I don't understand how people get bored with Minecraft... Personal opinions. Most of my friends have gotten bored with it... Let them. playing the game nearly for a year now, I just haven't stopped theirs just so much you CAN do... Good for you. They get something going and then they just stop and I don't understand why... Either builder's block, or they just start being negative that it wont be as nice as they think, wont be functional, or other reasons. Well I'm gonna be honest if Minecraft was the same from when it first released, I would have left this game along time ago! I think everyone will. but its not, they keep updating and adding in new things... Yay! And they make such cool stuff too! I really dont approve of horses... I mean me... meh I really don't have any creativity... Meh. I think most of my structures just look dull... lol but that hasn't kept me from playing it... Good for you.
what reasons have you stopped playing Minecraft? I got bored at one point.
Why do you think people just stop playing Minecraft? They get bored at one point.
Bonus question: One of my friends really doesn't play Minecraft due to the graphics it has... I mean it gets texture packs but it still just isn't doing anything for him, would you say this is understandable/fair or just plain stupid? Well, that's his problem. Minecraft is one of the most enjoyable games out there. Though yeah I got bored at one point too.
I personally think its just plain stupid... I mean I think the reason why Minecraft has the graphics it has is so that even weaker computers can play it... Or it was just intended that way. I mean what was it? 11 million people have bought Minecraft? Do you really think that all of those people have super computers? no, the graphic levels that Minecraft is at right now I think helps so that everyone can enjoy the game despite having a semi-crappy computer.... Actually, Minecraft's engine is crappy and still causes a lot of lag. Luckily, we have optifine. This was just my guess though... feel free to correct me on the real reason why the graphics are the way they are lol.... Well I guess they just intended it to be that way.
I don't understand how people get bored with Minecraft...What do you mean? You are basically stating that you don't know why people get bored of games. Most of my friends have gotten bored with it... So what? The already bought the game. playing the game nearly for a year now, I just haven't stopped theirs just so much you CAN do... Everyone has their own opinions. They get something going and then they just stop and I don't understand why... They start lacking imagination. Well I'm gonna be honest if Minecraft was the same from when it first released, I would have left this game along time ago! I think everyone will. Not everyone, I would have kept playing it.but its not, they keep updating and adding in new things...Yay! And they make such cool stuff too! I really dont approve of horses... Personal opinion.I mean me... meh I really don't have any creativity... Meh. I think most of my structures just look dull... lol but that hasn't kept me from playing it...Not everyone thinks that.
what reasons have you stopped playing Minecraft? I got bored at one point. He meant what had lead them to be bored of the game. Why do you think people just stop playing Minecraft? They get bored at one point. There are other cases.
Bonus question: One of my friends really doesn't play Minecraft due to the graphics it has... I mean it gets texture packs but it still just isn't doing anything for him, would you say this is understandable/fair or just plain stupid? He is entitled to his own opinion.Well, that's his problem. Minecraft is one of the most enjoyable games out there. Though yeah I got bored at one point too. This is your opinion.
I personally think its just plain stupid... I mean I think the reason why Minecraft has the graphics it has is so that even weaker computers can play it... They wanted it to be that way.I mean what was it? 11 million people have bought Minecraft? Do you really think that all of those people have super computers? no, the graphic levels that Minecraft is at right now I think helps so that everyone can enjoy the game despite having a semi-crappy computer.... Actually, Minecraft's engine is crappy and still causes a lot of lag. Luckily, we have optifine. It's not 'crappy.' The engine has served it's purpose of fulfilling a proper game's requirements. Not everyone experiences lag. This was just my guess though... feel free to correct me on the real reason why the graphics are the way they are lol.... Mojang's prime decision.
A. Balance was completely shot since notch left. If you create a surgar cane farm or anyone else does they can mass trade them for endless village trade items. Diamond, diamond tools, redstone, enchantment bottles, iron tools, food, arrows, and what have you. Then on top in 1-2 days they can turn the village into not only endless trading hub, they get unlimited iron from iron golems at 64 stacks per button push when it has a few iron golem inside.
B. Multi-player was ruined to me because I like to build underground, by myself, and compete with others in secret. Mojang not only didn't disable xray mod from working, they actually host it's thread here on the forums. So server after server people with x-ray had stacks of diamonds. And many servers are run by kids who get their kicks by griefing the population or restarting the map from scratch suddenly. And most multi-player servers run on easy mod with even creepers blowing up disabled so the challenge is gone in that reguard of building with hard to get high blast reistence materials for creeper problems.
C. I've played since beta/alpha and know most of the game inside and out. I went so far as killing the ender dragon on hardcore single player (Back before the wither was added). I've done most of the big mods from industrialcraft, to buildcraft, to red power, to better than wolves, mine colony, ect, ect.
D. My computer cannot handle making epic things with redstone and it crashes a lot. The redstone update did not make it lag less or address much of any problems with redstone.
E. I used to have fun before the adventure update came and added its lag and mob number reductions. Before that terrible update mob towers could be built to have crazy numbers of mobs inside and the drops could be so many they'd have to auto feed into lava to prevent lag on even high end computers. That same update nerfed my favorite location to build at (bedrock level) by adding a USELESS blind like effect that RUINED may people's builds before that update.
F. Now that programs to edit things in and mods that create wool creations are now common place. art websites I know refuse to take minecraft builds as art, taking away that fun to me. The community has basically completely lost its did you build that "legit" preference it once had.
G. Most of the awesome mods I used to use are either gone of they've exploded in size to just be too big. For instance mo creatures used to just by a few mobs, now I've lost count and everything's got to tame and have items and its just too laggy. I used to use a lot of mods back in 1.3.7, but now some mods are as big as all that combined. Many of those huge mods are unbalanced such as offering unlimited items at 0 cost once set up or mobs that drop things like diamonds. Its harder to create just a group of of balanced mods to put in my jars. In fact I'm thinking I'm going to have to create my own mod once mojang is done messing around with switching things around like the new resource packs.
H. Games just plain easy, easier now then it ever was. Things like fire immune potions, enchants, auto farms, villager trading, almost all the ores can be farmed now except like lapis. Mine times on many things were reduced, while tool durability was increased. Armor got giant buffs while becoming cheaper than ever to get it, 1 hit ko's got added to ghasts. Rather than unbuff those things, they are just artificially trying to make mobs harder in lame ways and not address the real problems like unlimted free diamonds/iron/levels/glowstone/redstone.
People just generally lose interest in it. Probably because after you have survived for about 3 days, you really have almost everything you need to live a stable life. Then after about a week, you have everything you need +more.
It gets somewhat boring, and I suppose they're just lazy to start a new world.
So you are against 'infinite'? Did your precious notch ever fix the infinite water?
It's not hard to just explore the world wide internet for servers that have mobGriefing off. There are also special unique servers that have the community of your taste; all rewarded from searching.
C. I've played since beta/alpha and know most of the game inside and out. I went so far as killing the ender dragon on hardcore single player (Back before the wither was added). I've done most of the big mods from industrialcraft, to buildcraft, to red power, to better than wolves, mine colony, ect, ect. There's more to Minecraft that meets the eye. Modded or Vanilla, either way.
D. My computer cannot handle making epic things with redstone and it crashes a lot. The redstone update did not make it lag less or address much of any problems with redstone. Well, this is simply your fault taht your computer can't handle redstone mechanisms and contraptions. The redstone update wasn't meant to make redstone 'simpler' for you, but rather to add new features.
It's not easy rewriting the engine. If you think it is so easy, why don't you give a crack at it eh? Massive spawning was merely a bug waiting to be fixed, and people took advantage of that. If you lost things, then sorry. That is the sacrifice one must pay for updates.
F. Now that programs to edit things in and mods that create wool creations are now common place. art websites I know refuse to take minecraft builds as art, taking away that fun to me. The community has basically completely lost its did you build that "legit" preference it once had. Minecraft was a game not intended for creation of art, but to build and survive. No one is forcing you to use such mods or external programs, and you can keep the 'legit' reference all you want.
No one is forcing you to use these 'huge' mods. A lot of them have the mods use optional sections that you would prefer. And if you are REALLY bored, you should start creating your own mods. Nothing can really stay 'little'. They will grow somehow.
It's hard to find a village, and tedious to create one from scratch. The 'lame' ways are your own personal opinions. Mojang is evening the game out to match with all of the buffs and new mechanics from earlier. It also takes time to get these 'infinite' items. The villagers' offers don't last forever.
I am strongly against people who think that the game had been better in the 'Notch times'. They just feel a huge nostalgic force pulling on their leg.
Game was better bro and most everything was balanced. The only thing you could mob tower was arrows, tnt, feathers, and string. Tnt and feathers both require work on the players part outside the mob tower to use. Bows were rapid fire so arrows were gone in a flash. Tnt took massive amount of sand to
Blast resistence was pretty much 100% related to the difficulty in getting the block. With obsidian being the highest and longest to mine to brick as the second with being rare and almost as bad to mine. You couldn't make stone bricks so if you wanted the increased resistence you had to deal with re-smelting if you misplaced.
Animals spawned where grass was with light so you didn't have to grind farms/feeding animals all the time leaving more time for building and fighting.
Besides boats, minecarts were the only form of fast transportation. And there was no mineshafts full of free iron tracks and minecarts. Or ravines all over underground where you wanted to build.
Pretty much everything, except for quickly consumed items and wool blocks was not mob towerable. All resourced used for building had to be gathered by the player. Food non-stacking balanced carrying food and carrying blocks/tools.
Because there was no fortune or villager trading or tool enchanting like unbreaking diamonds stayed a rare find. Instead of diamond gear being a norm. Like diamonds were always suppose to be with the huge damage reductions it gives without even any enchants.
I've been playing the game for almost 4 years now, and yes I start to get bored easier then I did when it was in alpha and beta. I still play it every now and again but it's not what it used to be for me personally. It's a good game I just don't have the attention span for it anymore.
I got bored of doing the same thing over and over again. Sure, they added horses.
Now I can ride a horse while I do the same repetitive tasks that I did in my last world.
what reasons have you stopped playing Minecraft?
Why do you think people just stop playing Minecraft?
I've lost interest. This doesn't mean the game has gotten boring it just means my attention has moved to other things. I took a break from 1.2.5 til 1.4.7 and now it looks like I'm taking a break from 1.5.2 til whenever I get back into it again. Everyone's different and we all enjoy spending our time differently. What works for you may not work for someone else.
Bonus question: One of my friends really doesn't play Minecraft due to the graphics it has... I mean it gets texture packs but it still just isn't doing anything for him, would you say this is understandable/fair or just plain stupid?

I wouldn't go so far as to call it stupid but I don't feel that judging a game by it's graphics is a fair way to determine whether it's a good game or not. Imagine if that had happened in the Atari 2600 era. I think people are spoiled these days by fancy graphics and think if it doesn't look good then it must be a crap game. I judge a game by how much replay value it has. There are games that were made decades ago that I still enjoy. If Minecraft ever stops being developed, it will always have a place on my hard drive as long as I have a computer capable of running it.
Well when i first started playing minecraft it was a challenge and was fun. But now after playing for one year i have a grasp on mostly everything and it isn't that fun anymore. It's like: "Oh look, a creeper. Let's kite it" when before it was "RUN AWAAAYYYYY!"
Honestly Minecraft takes a lot of time and effort. You have to get every freaking block you want to built with, you have to work for it, but it gives you an amazing feeling of accomplishment. I think most people don't want to put so much time into something, they'll think about how cool something would be, and then get bored when they find themselves doing nothing but breaking and placing blocks. If they would just finish something they would love minecraft but people are lazy and I'm sure they've gotten bored because anything bigger than a 5x5 oak wood plank, dirt floor house seems to hard to make.
You know what I mean?
People get bored of minecraft because it could be something they just dont like the idea of, no rules, no bosses, no story, just an open world. Another is they dont like the things in the game and cant do what they want. Another is they could just run out of ideas and not want to do anything.
Graphics matter to some people. Me personally, I like Super nintendo better than modern consoles. Graphics are only a bonus, but I think most of SNES games have beautiful graphics, Im a sucker for 8 and 16(and so on) but games.
Playing a game for years on end tends to get people bored of the game. I, myself, am bored with the game. I'll play FTB with friends, but that's about it. Doesn't mean the game is bad, I've had fun with it when I could, but I've played and done almost everything. The only real thing left to do is play with others in a heavily modded survival. You can't stop people from getting bored, and don't think of anyone less if they think so, it's just the natural pattern of all games.
Bored? I'm a builder and experimental architect. In three years I have yet to find it boring. All the mod makers keep everything interesting. If anything is boring, it's playing with griefers and creepers that destroy hours of work, or the game destroying terraine underneath or around a building project. Yeah, I spend 90% of my time on Creative Peaceful, and only go monster hunting when I need bonemeal. Even that is in a designated gladiator pit. That's the cool thing about open sandbox games: I can play nice and not kill or destroy to have fun.
Game was better bro and most everything was balanced. It's still is balanced.
The only thing you could mob tower was arrows, tnt, feathers, and string. Apart from bones, eyeballs, rotten flesh, and leather/gold/chain armour?
Tnt and feathers both require work on the players part outside the mob tower to use. Obtaining feathers is actually rather difficult now. Arrows were easier to make, all you needed is a bunch of gravel and a zombie farm.
Bows were rapid fire so arrows were gone in a flash. Now do you see the balance, or should I explain further more?
Tnt took massive amount of sand to make? You can find sand everywhere, beaches, ocean, lakes, etc. The only difference now is hitting the potluck once you encounter a desert. It's not much of a difference.
Re-smelting what, exactly?
Animals spawned where grass was with light so you didn't have to grind farms/feeding animals all the time leaving more time for building and fighting. They still do.
Besides boats, minecarts were the only form of fast transportation. And there was no mineshafts full of free iron tracks and minecarts. The hassle of finding one is rather large. The amount of rails in a mineshaft is nothing compared to what you need to make proper transportation. Time well spent is still a necessity in finding iron. Minecarts are also extremely rare, risking getting lost in the labyrinth.
Or ravines all over underground where you wanted to build. Ravines are not that hard to build through, it's basically a pocket of air. Patching lava and water blocks is very simple to do.
Pretty much everything, except for quickly consumed items and wool blocks was not mob towerable. It still isn't.
All resourced used for building had to be gathered by the player. Food non-stacking balanced carrying food and carrying blocks/tools. You still do. Food stacking was added to balance hunger, instead of your usual healing.
Because there was no fortune or villager trading or tool enchanting like unbreaking diamonds stayed a rare find. They still are, the hard work and chances of getting fortune and/or finding a village are usually not in your favor.
Instead of diamond gear being a norm. Like diamonds were always suppose to be with the huge damage reductions it gives without even any enchants. Enchanting is just a bonus, and completely optional.
