Ive tried getting mob traps to work with a chunk anchor/loader .. and then I was told that an actual player need to be in the area for the mobs to spawn no matter if the chunk is loaded/active or not..
Now it seems that my sugarcane farm will not grow with a chunk loader either... ? Do crops also need an active player?
I can't answer that because I have no idea what chunk loader your talking about or even whether or to what extant it is supported by your server. Does it allow for block updates when you are not there? Who knows? You didn't even tell us the name of the program you are using or where you are using it and if your server has enabled a player to use it on a limited number of chunks.
Suppose you were talking about Chicken Chunks, does it enable block updates? Yes it does.
Should your crops grow when your away? Yes, if your server allows it.
For how many chunks? Again that is up to the server to set.
Suppose your not talking about chicken chunks, suppose your talking about the bundled chunk loaders in railcraft or teleport pipes or a half a dozen other mods that all work differently...do you see why I say that your question is impossible to answer with the information you supplied yet?
None.. seem to work.
So.. as you say my server has to "allow" it. Could you please explain more on how/where I can check to see if my server does allow it.
Well first I would start by asking an admin on the server and if they have no clue then ask the owner, if they allow/run a fair range of mods then the issue of chunk loaders has to have come up before.
Starting from the top..."Craftbooks Chunk loader"
No such thing, there is a Craftbook Chunk Anchor however. And it isn't a main feature of the Craftbook plug-in it is a add-on option for the owner and a craftable option for the player.
Next...KCIR (Keep Chunks in Ram)
This is a fairly recent and rarely used server mod that can have a serious impact on the servers performance if more than a few players are allowed to use it for even small areas.
This is a program that was never intended to work with the current versions of minecraft and has not been updated in a while.
I'm noticing a theme here I'm afraid.
Are you just searching for chunk loading programs yourself and adding them and then expecting them to work on a server that does not have the supporting software installed?
None of these kinds of programs will work solely from your client, they have to be installed and configured on the server too. I assume that you know that but I still have to ask, especially after you mentioned trying three completely different plug-in programs for this. The main question here is which if any of these programs is actually installed on your server and has support for your client version of it?...
This is my server.
and, as you can tell, this is my first go around.
All of the above were installed, on the Server, as plugins.
that being said... All I did was install the plugins... server side.
I did not edit any permission files, didnt think I had to and probably wouldnt know what to look for inside the permission file anyway.
Afterwards, each plugin Seemed to run/activate normally... they just are not "working".
For example... Crafts Anchor would tell me "Chunk Activated"... so you would think.. hey... its activated.
But.. I would leave.. far away.. come back later (days in minecraft time) and nothing had grown.
So if you have any advice on what I may be doing wrong... please share.
btw, I changed Loader --> Anchor before you replied, but after I sent you the PM
