We recently started this PvP server with character and spells. However some players dislike the idea of having spells and want "Vanilla PvP" instead. Your opinions MC forums peeps?
Note that this is not a survival PvP server with spells, it is a MOBA styled match-based server where every character has strength and weaknesses and each contribute to a different factor of the team so you don't have to worry about "superior classes" who have spells that can dominate everyone. Teams have to decide and pick the best combination of characters/spells in order to outwit their opponents to win against them this way. So basically what I'm saying above is some players dislike our current gameplay idea and would rather have players all running around with just plain swords and armor fighting each other to see who can destroy the iron golem first (Which IMO, is rather uncreative ): )
Also, Stay away from donor benifets... Nothing's more cancerous than a pay2win pvp server where all of the top players are little kiddies that stole mommy's credit card to get infinite diamonds and tnt.
I do see your point, but however the way we implement spells and characters into our server's gameplay is quite different from what people usually think. If you've ever played Dota/LoL or a Moba game, its similar. The gameplay is matched based so you need not worry about losing any items or anything in the SMP aspect, and also is Team based so there isn't just one "superior" class that has spells to dominate everybody as the spells and characters are built around teamplay. Basically the idea is that each character has their own set of spell that each have their own uses, eg. Some are area of effect damaging spells, some are heals/slows etc. So the basic strategy of every match is to see which team can pick the best combination of characters and spells to outwit the opposing team. Just making our implementation of spells clear so people can judge more clearly.

Keep the spells, it's a different and interesting idea! Vanilla PvP is fine but there are - *stops, tilting her head and thinking* - somewhere around 5 bazillion vanilla PvP servers already!

Well on our server our donator perks only go as far as adding more classes for you to play, "Premium Champions" which are also available free-to-play but only a selected 3 per week. As far as impact on gameplay goes they're just more Champions and not "overpowered" champions that could dominate the whole game.

I would play this as long as there were no donor perks (or at least donor perks that impact gameplay).
