That's right, the PC version of Minecraft has surpassed 10 million sales! Minecraft as a game continues to have a phenomenal level of success, with humble beginnings in the hands of Mojang founding member Markus "Notch" Persson, and growing over a period of years into one of the most successful indie game titles in gaming history, spanning PC, console, and handheld systems in record numbers. In addition, the recent changes to Minecraft in 1.5 - and future changes planned the game, including Mod API support, more adventure map options, and all sorts of customization options - Mojang continues to push the game to new heights, even as they get involved in the community, with everything from direct-feedback bug fixing to real-life renewal projects. With the recent TU9 update, MCX360 is hot on the PC version's heels, even as it introduces special goodies unique to XBLA gamers.
As promised by Jeb, a secret was revealed about 1.6, a feature many were looking forward to! What feature? Well...
Not surprising. We've known horses were coming for about a month now, ever since Jeb "accidently" showed them during Mojam. (This and this.). Mojang has also been working with the creator of Mo Creatures to make this happen.
Why do you care? Just because they're adding horses doesn't mean they're forcing you to use them.
Maybe they really really hate horses for some inane reason. And just don't want to see them clopping about in front of them. Maybe they hate them that much that they don't even want to have to kill them, they just want them not there.
I'm not sure why though.
The various species that belong the the equine family have served us well throughout human history, their tameing and harnessing has assisted us in Industry travel and war. They are a noble beast worthy of admiration and failing that a basic respect.
The same kind of respect you would afford a dog.
P.S Stop using that "don't like it don't use it" argument anyone with >2 braincells knows it's a load of horse Poopy *stupid censor* and becomes flimsy when you factor in Multiplayer.
The comment that you don't have to use horses is redundant.
They could load a bunch of into the game and let us pick and choose what to use, regardless of what they are, but clearly they don't.
I really feel like Horses are just one of those things that should be kept to mods. Unless there are some complicated mechanics relating to them that are associated to other sections of the game, I'm not really seeing what all the hype's about.
Why do people want horses !? The devs can add the stuff that horses could do to pigs !
But I want horses because they are horses ! Well I want Lich Lords implemented into the game along with a realm for the wither boss and stuff. But that doesn't justify the addition of this stuff.
Kidding me ? Donkeys are WAY more intelligent and more robust than ANY horse. And Sharks,Spiders,Snails and bees are not just more interesting but they are also way more advanced creatures than horses. Sharks can feel electricity that is created by prey using their muscles to move, spiders can weave a material stronger than steel, Snails are not awesome so ignore them, bees have huge states and a queen and they build complex structures with the accuracy never to be achieved by mankind without the use of machines.
Horses would walk off a cliff if you wanted them to. Literally. It has happened. They are dumb.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Would you like to know the atomic structure of a piece of bread?
Okay, I guess horses aren't really a problem for me, but why are they needed in the game? Why? We already have pigs that can be perfectly well controlled, why do we need horses? They could've done much needed things like biome improvement or more gear to choose from, but horses? Why? Just why?
The horse is nothing more than a saddled pig and pointless to add.
The horse has better control than a saddled pig making the saddled pig pointless.
While I don't really care all that much, I don't understand the need for redundancy and I would much rather see them put their efforts into more significant changes. I agree that new mobs are good, but again it's redundant.
I'm sort of glad they're adding horses as a rid-able mob rather then "Saddle pigs" because as far as I know, Saddles are a pain in the **** to get, they look ridiculous and I'm not going waste my time looking for a village just to get a carrot when I could easily get wheat, give it to a horse and then go find a saddle as a horse is something worth riding.
Horses wear saddles.
This is minecraft, everything looks ridiculous.
Horses eat carrots, in fact they love them
So your arguments are irrelevant because you don't know that horses won't be saddled ridicoulous looking carrot eaters.
If you read my post properly you would have realized that I said,
1. Pigs aren't worth finding saddles for something so stupid looking.
2. Wheat is found more abundantly and can be used as substitute.
And for the "Everything looks ridiculous" the only "Ridiculous" looking things are players on saddle pigs, creepers and squids, everything actually looks as if it fits in normally.
Do you know that you will be able to feed wheat to this Minecraft Horse? How do you know they won't add a new item.... like oats? Adding a separate food item for a new animal would seem more consistent with the direction that Mojang has taken. Wheat for cows, carrots for pigs, seeds for chickens, ??? for horses.
