I enjoy building in the forest. Often times there's a river that comes through so I cut down trees around a plot and start up my house on the side of a river.
I usually live in Xtreme Hills or Swamplands. The best to live in, though, is mushroom isles. They have unlimited food, and no monsters that spawn. The downsides are that they are uber rare and theres no wood.
I prefer the extreme hills biome. I just enjoy having a house ontop of a mountain with a basement that takes up most of the inside of said mountain.

Humanity is the creation of Logic and Emotion, Calculation and Imagination, Cold Analysis and Blind Faith. This is why I believe it is a strange Human that would prize one while shunning the other. For a calculator can do math just as well as you, but a calculator can not use math to make the world a better place.

In survival? In or near a forest or jungle. I use wood a lot in my builds (Houses at least) so this provides plenty of supplies, however I also farm a lot so I like to be on the edge of a plains too.
I prefer plains other than any of the others, it's more flatted and close to sea, making it a wonderful spot to build it, especially when it's close to other biomes(taigas/forests/jungles, etc)
I live in a swamp primarily because I had never lived in one before. The darker greens are growing on me, and I acquiring slimeballs is never a problem.
Oceans, specifically small oceans that have dimensions less than 200x200.
They're more of lakes that way, and I'm using a lake like that to build my floating island.
I'm measuring the width of each row and how deep they are, making the ocean into a crater of where my island was before it floated upwards.
I would probably choose a Mushroom Island, simply because its the best biome all around. No creepers creeping in creepily, unless they spawned in a biome right next to the island, no tall black dudes stealing the land, only you, the mooshrooms (most resourceful mob), and an island all to yourself. You dont even need to light it up.
Including all aspect of minecraft like mining, building, and survival

anyway i usually live in mountain ranges and build my house into the mountain so i have an awesome view from my 4-story penthouse
My next choice would probably be forests becasue I like tree houses.
