I need help. I cant use multiplayer. all it says is searching for LAN servers and never finds one. what even is LAN? and how do u friend people?

LAN = Local area network, so if your friends are at your house or vise versa and you got 2 computers that both have minecraft, one can open up LAN and you can join that.

But if you want to play on other servers you will need the IP address to connect to them

Thank you - this helped me understand.
I was able to look up a server on Google and got on a game in multiplayer.
Do you know how to disable the running chat messages?
I am looking for other servers for multi player - is there a forum for this?

There is a Servers forum. You can also go on a server list. To turn off chat,do:

Press "Esc" key
Click "Options"
Click "Multiplayer Settings"
Click on "Chat: Shown" until it is "Chat: Hidden"
