Don't think I've seen any 61 year old players up till now, the "senior citizen" on my server is in his early 50's I think.
Yes, I've been playing Minecraft and on the forums since 2011 and getting ready to turn 62 in Feb. I love the forums, the people here, and playing Minecraft.

Nothing wrong with that, computer gaming is for all ages I've just been trying (sort of) to find "the oldest Minecraft player", just to see if the older crowd is being represented

Looking for a friendly community? Look no further, and join the BlockStackers! We run a Vanilla whitelisted server, a Feed The Beast server, and a Survival server with some twists.
The majority of people on here are just overly opinionated and unwilling to come to some middle ground on certain things, like what should be implemented, should the terrain be fixed, should this be optional, etc.
I would enjoy this forum more if people just agreed to disagree and avoided the whole "I'm smarter than you, so lets get into a 3 page argument about logical progression of arguments and just touch on what started the argument."
That, and the people who complain about the highly mundane features: potatoes, carrots, breeding system, etc. This usually ends up with a good chunk of the community thinking that anyone who has a suggestion on how to improve/tweak the game is just trolling to start flame-wars.

You should be happy that Minecraft isn't like other online games such as Runescape which is made up of a majority of people that are immature children. I have noticed some immaturity on MC and I'm sure it's increased now that it's on the XBOX but it's still really not that bad.
Is it just me, or has the minecraft community become significantly less mature? Without question it would become somewhat less mature, less reasonable, from its earlier days. I figure more popular = easier for little kids to find. And little kids are what I'm pretty sure I'm seeing, even on these forums. And of course some just unreasonable old people. I might be crazy, but I feel like there's been a particular boom of this since minecraft came to xbox. Whaddaya think?
p.s. Don't be rude or you'll just be proving my point
p.p.s. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but it's a bad thing
p.p.p.s. I don't mean all little kids are evil, but a lot of them are
At least it gives kids who play cod all day a chance to be creative.
That's true. One way to get a pretty good guess about how mature someone is on the forums is to look at how many posts they have. The less posts the more likely to be immature.

I know several people that play this game and they are in their 50's.
The Minecraft community hasn't been mature as a whole for a long time- it is impossible to do so with such a huge, overwhelmingly large community, many of which are juveniles which still think "your mom is x" jokes are funny.
I have had a few incidents with annoying 'kids' and immature people. 1 thing that annoys me is that some people dont see past creative mode in this game, someone buys the game, blows up everything, and then gets bored. Since creative mode, people seem less willing to work and play survival. I had this one guy on the server I managed, that constantly annoyed his friends that were with him and screamed TROLLD every few minutes. I have noticed people just being a lot more immature, I play sp now Also on youtube for example some person said 'LIKE THIS IF U THINK MINECARFT SHOULD BE 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' and also random people starting channels like 'Minecraft011111' and posting unthoughtful videos and generally rubbish content to try and be Minecraft famous.
That's a fair point, actually. Before creative I had to fool around with mods (TMI being the mod of choice) and fly mods to do creative work, so I just got the resources in survival and built it without flying- more fun that way. More recently, I either just build in creative or play on PvP servers (though Feed the Beast is going to be one mod I'll experience the way it's meant to be- survival).
One way or the other, I'll keep building my quaint little towns and epic forts, and I'll keep wondering why a creeper's idea of tasteful redecoration involves suicidal crater making. I don't much mind how a person enjoys their game as long as they enjoy it and see it as just a game.

Watch me mine for crafts, craft mines, fall down shafts and do a bunch of other things that may or may not involve blocks.
Minecraft is an odd duck. It's not exactly an easy game to learn, but it isn't prohibitively difficult by any means. You can get into the basics of it really quick and the basics are enough to keep you occupied for a while, but the more advanced stuff is a draw for people who get the basics down.
I guess I'm saying that the game caters to all ages. There are so many microcosms of possibility that emerge from its mechanics, and a large variety of people can find something they love in a lot of places.
So it's a popular kids game, and a popular game for older people as well. These two kind of come together on the forums and start rubbing each other the wrong way at times. Good for everyone though, because forums tend to prove you wrong a lot and you learn a lot about other people as well.
That being said, I think that the community would have quite a few more older people if they'd stop whining about the graphics and give the game a chance. I know kids who are even worse about this, but it seems largely an issue with teenagers and young adults who still correlate old graphics with old gameplay.
Of course it's quite a cognitive dissonance to try and resolve when the game has millions of players. I mean I'd have to assume it was pretty damn fun even if I hadn't played it.
If you actually played on an Xbox, you wouldn't say so.
It's a game, of course there is going to be immaturity.
I actually played on an Xbox for several years. A lot of the games do have a horrible community. Most consoles are bound to have a horrible community. Less PC games have a horrible community because kids can't use PCs as easily as consoles and most parents don't know what the hell they're doing with PCs either, so they default to buying consoles for the family and use PCs to check their facebook. That's changing in recent years but until now it's just been how things are.
When Jimmy asks for Grand Theft Auto you don't go and build him a gaming PC, you buy a console because you're a big adult and don't have time for any of Jimmy's crap. Until consoles become irrelevant (that is, turn into PCs) or kids become smart enough to specifically ask for PCs, that's going to be a good option for most parents.
Rather faulty logic. It's not the number of posts that matters, it's the tone and quality. I'm almost 45 and have a very low post count because I tend to keep my mouth shut and most of the topics created have already been answered or I have nothing new and meaningful to contribute. People with high post counts aren't necessarily mature, they just talk a lot.
Yeah, same here. I'm 27 & instead of spending my time on here, I spend time (gasp!) playing the game!. I only post when I have a question.
& yeah, the entire gaming community has been saturated with 12 year-olds. Too many parents buying rated M games for their kids to either shut them up, keep them busy, or make their stepson like them for 5 minutes. PCs & 360s should not be babysitters, but it's what they've become, sadly. Online Multiplayer First-person Shooters are the biggest examples, like Call of Duty (spit) & Halo. I almost like playing against them on the Assasin's Creed multiplayer, because it requires patience that they don't have, so they jump the gun & make it easy for me to beat them.

I blame Minecraft for the letters on my W, A, S, & D keys being completely gone.
And sometimes i tend to think that small vanilla servers have more mature admins and such things....
They have to though, a small vanilla server with immature players is going to tear itself apart with drama and griefing!
I have this prejudice myself, I have a lot of trouble taking a poster seriously if they have a default avatar. It's not fair but it just makes it seem like they're not even trying!

"Sometimes, I just wanna give up, say 'I'm done with this mess' and go to bed. But you know what; you can't shrug off your responsibilities. You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."
