I'd say the golden age was probably 1.7 beta, after that it just became weird and convoluted. Thankfully though, Minecraft has had its renaissance in 1.3/1.4.
Yeah. Remember world gen back then!?!
We could enter back in to a golden age if:
- Biomes looked nicer.
- Mods become easier to install. Forge is getting us so close to this perfect modding paradise. But they can only get so close without Mojang.
Around the time shears were implemented and we were getting a lot of pointless updates. The update that added hunger and sprint was a harsh blow to PvP servers, introducing some really unpleasant elements. There's still bugs from that update that haven't been fixed.

The golden age of Minecraft was before the arival of an unmeasurable group of people
who complained about every single update and asked for Mojang to revert back to
alpha becasue HURRR TEH GRAFIX WER MOAR COLORFOL.
I think 1.3.2 because it added Ender chests and a lot of good stuff. The update where enderman came was good(can't remember what update it was I think it was1.2 something lol)
Enderchests are good. I think 1.3 before the creepy Enderman sounds

Good terrain, fun gameplay, clean system overall... now they've ruined it. And they just keep making it worse each update. The ONLY thing I like about the current updates are: New wood colors, new stairs and slabs, and fireworks. I hate the new gameplay changes they keep doing. I wish all Minecraft was was just adding new blocks for playing with. I still remember back in Beta 1.4 - Beta 1.7.3 I watched Yogscast all the time. It was so much fun discovering new features that I never knew about. Now, they have patched all the bugs. All of the fun glitches (that aren't exploitable), all the fun things that you could do that made minecraft what it was. I haven't played in over a month now. Tried MCNostalgia for a long time and also tons of mods. But they just never brought back what Minecraft was so very long ago. Mojang has ruined the game beyond belief. Notch left and Jeb and Dinnerbone just KEEP ON CHANGING THE DAM GAMEPLAY!!!! I could rant on for hours, but that is what i think.
Minecraft is dead. End of story.

Some people really need to stay away from the government propaganda department. Let the brain-washing machines have a day off, they must need maintenance by now.

You know what, even if MC never updated, or just added new blocks to play with, it still would never feel the same.
That's what nostalgia feels like.
Minecraft is nowhere near dead, and I think the golden age will be whenever they push the redstone update.
I'm not sure when the Golden Age was but I'm almost sure it's gone. Maybe 1.7.3 or maybe 1.2.5 but either way... there's a feeling in the air itself when you're in a Golden Age, it's like a fizzy optimism, it feels like the sky is the limit and everything can only get better from here! The Minecraft community right now isn't like that, it's bitterly divided, the future is uncertain, even Jeb is losing hope and I've started hearing the whispers... "End of Days", they say. Well actually that's a bit of poetic license, it's really "End of Updates" but that just doesn't sound melodramatic enough!
Or maybe I'm just being silly, it wouldn't be the first time and it should be obvious to anyone that expecting the best isn't something I do, but I couldn't care less either way! We can rattle on about the Zeitgeist all day long but in the end Ages don't matter, if all it takes is a little doom and gloom to get you down then you just need to try a bit harder! Every single one of us has the potential to forge out a bright future right here, right now, all we gotta do is make that choice!
You know what I think? I think we should all just tell the End of Days to buzz off, and make the moment shine whether it wants to or not! Get out the polish and spiff it up until there's no way to even tell it didn't start off bright! Craft our own luck and our own destiny on our own s! Who wants to come with me‽

"Sometimes, I just wanna give up, say 'I'm done with this mess' and go to bed. But you know what; you can't shrug off your responsibilities. You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."
The golden age is, was, and in the future. I think in certain ways the Golden Age has never escaped Minecraft and as long as the core of the game stays the same it will always be.

Yep, Minecraft is always at its Golden Age, always has been, always will be.

The hipster part of me wants to say in(f)dev, with the huge and cool customizable options and small community and simplicity. But in reality, at Minecraft's current trend of getting objectively better, the golden age is infinitively off in the future. Please don't complain that I used "objectively" wrong, it's figurative. They're always adding new features that you don't even have to encounter that doesn't change the whole experience unless you want it to, and only removing bugs (for the most part).
