1-It shows they don't want the game enough to actually buy it.
2-It's illegal!
3-Mojang doesn't get any of the money.
4-If they say "Their parents won't let them get it" or something similar, then they should just not GET IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!
1. Think of it this way. You really want something but there is no way for you to get it legally. Thus you have to resort to illegal ways to get it. Whole different story.
Or maybe, it's because they're the people who find the easier way to get to things. I today's world, people are finding ways to make life easier and more enjoyable. Compare now to a hundred years ago. Travel was very slow and difficult. Now it's very easy and fast because people anted it easier, so they made it easier!
2. Technically, it's only illegal to distribute it. It's perfetly legal to obtain a torrent. Atleast in Canada..... Somewhat strange, ain't it?
3. Actually, cracked versions do not have access to 99% of all servers, lack the easy changing of skin, and instant updates. In fact, many people eventualy buy the game to get those. The players use a cracked version as a 'trial'.
In fact, Mojang is perfectly fine with it, if they didn't allow it, that demographic of players would not play. So in reality, Mojang alowing people to pirate the game has made them MORE money!
4. Parents are from a different generation from kids. In fact, older generations have been seen to be less open to things. Parents are no exception. They may not think buying on the internet is safe for example. They may have some prejudice against swedish people. I don't know!
Although, sometimes it is because they don't have the money or another perfectly reasonable, undebatable explanation. In that case, well, then I suppose the parents are right! Food over games

This is a signature. There should be something here....
Oh wait! There is!
No they are not. Ages ago Notch made a post, where he specifically says he is NOT fine with it. No one else from Mojang has commented on it as far as I have seen.
"In a time when many PC game developers are fighting internet piracy, Markus "Notch" Persson shocked the industry when he told a fan who couldn't afford Minecraft to pirate the game. In the same tweet, he did encourage the fan to buy it in the future when he could afford it. Still, the damage was done.
In a PR nightmare, sites took hold of the comment and immediately spread news that Notch said it was alright to illegally download Minecraft. Obviously, with a game as successful and popular as Minecraft, Notch doesn't have to worry about a few bad apples downloading his game." ...
"Please don’t interpret this text as me being fine with people pirating Minecraft. I’d MUCH rather have people pay for it so I can reinvest in hiring people and developing more cool games in the future."
I link this thread every time this debate comes up. Don't say "Notch is fine with it" like the poster I responded to. He specifically says he is NOT fine with it.
The whole point from all the pirates is that they were able to play minecraft on THEIR terms. The number of people who pirated minecraft and have never paid for it till this day is notoriously low. by setting up the system so that only legitimate owners could play online (the only REAL way to play minecraft) was the perfect incentive for people to buy it.
When I first started getting into Minecraft about a year ago I pirated the game. Within a week I was hooked and had to get myself a copy. My friend was also in the same boat as we both did the same thing at the same time. So don't go thinking that everyone just pirates and never buys I know quite a few people including me and my friend who just got hooked and had to get a real copy.
Pirating may be illegal, but since you'll almost never get penalized for doing it, the only thing really stopping you is your conscience. So it being right or wrong completely depends on your personal opinion, which makes it pointless to argue about it.
Besides, arguing over the subject is stirring up more hate than the actual crime itself.

1) Why would you bother pirating it if you don't want it?
2) So are many other things you've done in your life. I don't think playing a game is a big deal.(I bought it too)
3)They're making like 7 dollars a second. Notch has like 30 million Euros. I don't think they'll get a heart attack over a few lost copies.
4) Why? Maybe they really want it and their parent won't let them. Why should they not get it?
Your post made no sense at all and there was no point in it. Nuff said.
I think that if someone does crack the game and enjoys it, then decides to buy a legal copy of the game later on, that's ok. It's sort of like a "try before you buy" sort of thing (like a lite version of an app on the app store with iphones).
If someone cracks the game, decides they don't like it, and never plays again, I think that's fine too. Again, I could compare it to a "try before you buy" sort of thing.
If someone cracks it, decides they like it, and flat out refuses to pay, that's when I don't like the idea lol. I say if you like the game, do buy a copy and support Mojang.
i agree with the demo fact with pirating i admit i used to pirate minecraft from 1.4to 1.7.3 then i got the game simple as that i tried it out i liked it and then i got my parents to buy it simple i dont see a really big problem
Did I pirate Minecraft? Yes.
Did I end up buying both versions of Mincraft later on? Hell yes.
I have pirated so many games and bought them because I did. I'm glad I pirated Mincraft, I probably wouldn't have been into it as much if I didn't pirate it at the time and I would have had to wait a while longer until I could get the game(this was long before any sort of demo came out).
And "It shows they don't want the game enough to actually buy it.". How would you know how much people want a game? Riiight, after pirating Half-Life 2, I bought all the Half-Life(and Valve) games because because I didn'twant them enough to buy them.
Did you even stop and think before writing this and think why people even pirate games in the first place?

Wow, now you know why not to pirate games. I really hope you don't get busted (it can happen)

I really don't get the point of what you're saying.
To be honest, I don't pirate games anymore. But when you're a high school student that can't get too much, you will most likely pirate games so that you can play them. I see nothing wrong with piracy, as long as you end up buying the games you like and support the developers. That's why I bought almost all the games I pirated, I don't see it as unethical but I want to support the devs. That, and actually owning a game feels better since you actually own a copy and it's far more convienient.
Some time ago there was a young man who downloaded a cracked minecraft game. For two months he played the game very often, after which time he actually bought the game, because he found that he really liked it.

What happens if you don't know if you know its fun or not?
Maybe its to diffcult?
Update: I used to have a prirated minecraft before the trial verison came out. I bought minecraft when 1.3 was
almost released.

I know that the other two posts aren't as strong as hers.

He posted that in 2010, and he tweeted the other one in 2012. Which one is more recent?
