I'm not a hater on minecraft, I've played it for a while, just after 1.0 the game felt, well less unique, it lost the unique feeling that no other game had, I don't know if it's just time that has infected my games, or if its the game itself.
It happens, I think its a phase. I'm in the same phase, and I plan to play other games and do other things. I know eventually I'll get back in the mood to play. It helps for me to play with mods, just give yourself lots of things to do. Adventuring mods, technical mods, tweak mods, anything and everything you fancy.
For now, I went back to Skyrim, Starcraft, Warcraft III, and a few other games I used to play a lot. I know I will always come back to minecraft, you will always get that urge to mine and craft ;D
Everything you could do in 1.0.0, you can do it now. I would understand what you are saying if you started playing around alpha, because a lot have changed since then, but since official release? The game is basicly the same.
And I still have the same fun playing now, as I used to almost 2 years ago, when I started playing, so... it is probably you.
I started around the beginning of Beta, it just seems alot has changed
When I started Minecraft back in alpha I was just a newbie. Eventually you become better and it gets boring. So nowadays I either play with friends or try to make the best things I can with the game, whether its a machine or a city or whatever.
The game will get boring for some people when they are playing single player mode, for most of the time. However, from time to time, playing with friends on 'Lan' will re-excite you into playing Minecraft again.
Everybody has a way to make their gameplay a lot more exciting. I would also recommend you install a mod called "Minecolony", it really gives you (the player) something new to do.
I think it must be you, where are lots of people that still love the game and haven't gotten bored of it. Like me! Though accasionally playing some other games a bit is fun too. Then I go back to MC!
Minecraft has a lot to offer. I don't really think your exploring all the possibilities. You can install mods and create servers create an adventure map, create your own achievements board!
Minecraft since full release is mainly working on its 'infrastructure' so to speak.
For example:
Expanding the Y axis height from 128 to 256 (the old size limited how tall a structure you could build)
Increasing the # of block ID's available for creating new blocks (They had been at the limit of block ID's since about beta 1.8 )
Migrating to one game client instead of two to create one unified set of code (easier to update and create mods for)
Currently working on a Mod API (make mod installation and management easier).
After 1.4 we should see quite a bit of work on new content I'm predicting (along with bug fixing to fix things that are a bit broken after all those changes).
i agree im a pro ive beat the ender dragon i have plenty of diamonds i got EVERY achivement ive done prettymutch EVERYTHING i did mods but those die fast its lost its spark and well its just too boring now
Have you tried creating a new world? Once you get so overpowered, That a creeper explosion in 1.3 on Hard doesn't even hurt you. Then you know you need to go jump in some Lava at the bottom of the world from the new heigh limit.
Or, also, Tried installing mods? The Technic pack is a good start, Even thou it isn't updated.

Is probably him. I confess that even starting in Beta 1.8.1. I don't feel the same game now. I think that was because is was so amazing (for example) discover a new realm, or discover that in the game you can make machines (redstone), or discover a new recipe, etc.
I think that is because Minecraft was a new kind of game, and that really make me play hours. Now I still playing, but survival isn't enough for me. That's why I play with mods, adventure maps, survival maps, post in the forums, etc. Others people still liking the survival, even starting in Indev or somewhat.
Is just different minds
Usually if I get less tired of minecraft or any other game I take a break for a few weeks, play a dif. game or go outside get freh air and enjoy the real world, then when I come back to whatever game it is it almost always feels fresh and new to me...
Personally this works, don't know if it will work for you
Minecraft has gone down hill in three major respects.
a} It's become terminally bloated, even on high end hardware. Use MCNostalgia, and download 1.7.3, or an even earlier version. Observe how much more responsive, and less laggy the game is. I've got an 8 core processor with a dual video card and 12 gb of RAM, and I generally don't get above 50 FPS. If I put the drawdistance at anything above short, my video card temperature also goes above 60 C.
b} Map rendering is much less detailed, and more uniform, than prior to 1.8 beta.
c} Mojang have become infected with the false belief that the game needs to be made easy enough for a retarded chimp to play it, in order to maximise market share, and therefore money. Blizzard adopting a similar mentality was one of the main factors that destroyed World of Warcraft.
c1} Unless you're running mods, in which case you actually have some use for it, ore drops in the vanilla game have become excessive to the point of being insane.
c2} Given how abundant food is, the hunger system has actually made combat vastly easier, rather than more difficult. You've got constant healing over time, as long as your hunger bar is full.

I'm complete agree with b, and very agree with c points
b - Maybe this affect the "spark". I mean, when I see the old terrain, it give me more feel to play instead of the new terrain.
c - Well. Something that is totally true is that the game change their initial way. I mean. Before, you would never think about Ocelots. And maybe some people like the old way. Thought, I'm not very sure of who compare the "old way" to the new one :S
My advice is to stop playing for a while, move on to other games, and after a few days/months/hours, go back to Minecraft. You'll find the game you left behind has magically 'regained' it's spark. Or, use MCNostolgia or mods to enhance gameplay and reactivate your addiction
Damn, I should become a therapist! "How to remove/regain addiction."

Agreed. Btw if you put that ad in somewhere with the addiction you would probably be arrested...
I think its natural to get bored of it eventually. But the TRUE beauty of Minecraft is that it will always pull you back in with something. It's the greatest sandbox game in the world. It can be anything you want it to be. It truly can.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
