Every time I find a nice seed, a swamp ruins it. Today, I spawned right in front of a village near the shore. There's also a nice extreme hills island a few blocks away from spawn. I started walking around a bit, and then BAM, an ugly swamp biome. I hate the color of its grass and water. Does anybody actually like swamp biomes? State your reasoning.
And if you don't like the colors then you can use optifine to turn them off. Though I don't thinks it's updated to 1.3.1 yet. (and even if you cant justify getting a mod just because of murky water, you should still get optifine (once it updates) because it is amazing and will make your minecraft experience so much better.)

What I do is change the biome using biome painter. I don't mind swamps as long as they're away from my base.
I like swamp biomes,i just think they just need to work more on it,they should put animals that can be only found in the swamp biome like crocodiles and frogs.
They're nothing special aesthetically, but I don't mind too much.
I like them for their practical uses, they provide a lot of natural resources including mushrooms, trees, water, clay, vines, sugar cane and lily pads and are flat and easy to build on.
Aesteticly they're in my 5 worst biomes list, but they have a lot of useful recourses- mushrooms, clay, lilly pads. But that grass color, it just hurts my eyes.
I like them for one reason, red mushrooms. They are overly abundant in the swamps and this makes cave diving to find red mushrooms pointless, so now I can focus on diamonds instead of red shrooms. I would also prefer to have a swamp by me than a jungle. My last few seeds have been a small grass land surrounded by jungle on every single side of me and I hate parkouring my way through a jungle especially when trying to lead an animal back to my farm. For me, it's the jungles that I hate.
I actually, just toda made home in the swamo biome... there not particulaly my favortite, but it's really good for food.... in the swamp biome, i found a HUGE gorge...
Don't mind them. They're more exciting than just plain ocean and they are a great source of clay, vines and water lillies. They don't look that exciting, though, could have had more thickness and critters.
Also...
Not possible.

I wasn't being literal. But it has happened quite a lot of times. I like lily pads and vines, but I think the water is kinda ugly.

I recomend Optifine !

When I think swamp, I think this:

So I guess a kind of jungle and swamp biome mix would be neat. Think jungle, but with lots more water.
I support gas pockets in MC (see thread in Suggestions)!
