10: Lapis. It's rare but all you can do with it is make it into blocks and dye wool and sheep.
9: Gold tools. Same as lapis. Rare and pointless. Can't mine half the ores there are and only have 33 uses anyway.
8: Netherrack. Very common, but doesn't look nice for building at all. Only use for it is a fireplace.
7: Snowball. They only hurt Blazes and the Ender Dragon and can be crafted into also pretty useless Snow.
6: Bedrock. You can't even get it legitimately, looks ugly, only use for it could be a TNT-proof bunker.
5: Dragon Egg. Very valuable and rare, but other than a trophy it has no use whatsoever. Hopefully in 1.4 it will.
4: Locked Chest. Only a few of these items survive today, but there is no point. When you place it it disappears, and in inventory and crafting it is useless. It is, however, probably the most valuable and rare item to possess in Minecraft.
3. Cauldron. So in 1.9 pre-releases you could brew in them. Then the brewing stand came along and destroyed its future. I'm surprised why it wasn't removed. The only use for it is putting water in it and taking it out again with water bottles.
2. Dead Bush. No use AT ALL. Not really the easiest to get either. The only thing you can do with it is place it in sand. Looks bad too. At least before 1.2 you couldn't get them and they were somewhat rare, but now you can with shears so, WHAT'S THE POINT??
1. Air. The ultimate extra dropdead most useless block ever. Can't even obtain it and yet it's all around you, making it the most common block in Minecraft. I'm surprised it actually qualifies as a block. On the wiki it actually says it's possible to survive without air, meaning it is totally pointless, has no use and most people don't even know it's there.
Other blocks and items that just missed out on the list are: Clay Block, Flowers, Fern, Tall Grass, Soul Sand, End Stone, Nether Brick Fence, Redstone Ore, Glowing Redstone Ore, Lapis Lazuli Ore, Sponge, Huge Mushroom, Clock, Mundane Potion, Snow Block and Painting.
I really want to say gravel, since it's really annoying, but it does have the use of providing flint. Flint is good for arrows and making fire, so indirectly gravel isn't totally useless. I will say it's the most annoying thing in Minecraft though. Finding it underground and having to dig it all out so it doesn't fall on you...
Realistically I'd probably have to say ferns or dead bushes. Tall grass gives seeds at least, but ferns and dead bushes do literally nothing.
Lapis isn't entirely useless. I think it makes a nice decorative block.
I do think gold armor/tools are very useless. They don't deal much damage, they can't even mine gold ore, and they're incredibly weak, breaking in only 33 uses. Almost half as much as wooden tools! I don't like netherrack much either, as it has a pretty ugly pattern. But it's good for fireplaces!
Clocks can be a little more useful come the 1.4 update with picture frames.
It's a way of transport for exploring when riding pigs, and it dosn't use hunger, plus it's cheap.
