So I don't know if anyone else has seen this new lawsuit against Mojang, but reading through this crap and what these guys and Uniloc actually do, it sounds to me that the company Uniloc, makes their money from a patent(s) that gaming and other companies overlook when legally putting their software out on market. Apparently just this morning, if you haven't heard yet, Mojang is being sued for copyright infringement for the Android version of "Mindcraft". Yes they spell it that way in the documents... you can look it up here...
The lawsuit's basing on mojang "On information and belief, Defendant is deemed to reside in this judicial district, has committed acts of infringement in this judicial district, has purposely transacted business
involving its accused products in this judicial district and/or, has regular and established places
of business in this judicial district." If you read through the company's description of itself it almost sounds as if they're patent certain things on purpose so that developers are forced to go through them to publish something for a more "Convenient" and "Secure" way to publish blah blah blah... you get it. . .
My problem with this is that, doing some research, Uniloc apparently hands out lawsuits left and right and their company is loosely based off of parasitic values, in which they wait for something to come along, patent it, and make sure they get paid for something stupid.
Since I'm not genuinely knowledgeable about our legal system because, lets face it... its kind of trashed... I was wondering which of the many that are part of this community are... read through the lawsuit. Find a loophole and post it.
So far above I can say that it can be thrown out by means of accidents happening, since Unolic claims it was on purpose. lolz
TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE NOTCH'S MONIES! DOWN WITH CORRUPTED STUPID PATENT CRAP!
Also feel free to correct me if I have any of the above wrong. I'd love to learn more about the lawsuit as it unravels
Hay does the Android app use the same Authentication servers as the rest of us? Cause they just got hacked not too long ago. Well all of a sudden their was a hot fix and stuff.
I wonder if it related?
The biggest problem in getting sewed is that quite often it's better to pay the damm thing off and move on. That is what they are counting on. From a business standpoint it's better to pay a few million than to spend tens of millions to be right.
And from what I've read, these buggers have sewed and won against some pretty deep pockets.
Mojang should just buy the company and be done with them
That is, if the company actually existed. It's more like a bunch of people who come up with things (or find patents about them) and then sue for them. I doubt they could even make a Hello world, and they're trying to sue several random app developers at once.

Locking this thread. Even though this was started before the announcement, I want to keep all ideas centralized in one place: http://www.minecraft...obscure-patent/
