"i want attention and special treatment, im a girl <3 " lol
Is this really about fighting for women's right, or trying to get people's attention and convince others that girls deserve special attention and treatment? I am confused.

lol im sorry but this is kind of stupid ur exagerating the harrasment i know some people do harras people but your making big generalizations and also all the servers i play on have zero sexual harrasment and im a MC vet but i do understand your point
"i want attention and special treatment, im a girl <3 " lol

the former, nowhere in this thread have i seen the OP act like the latter.

Maybe it's that girls don't want special attention/treatment...and are getting it nevertheless.
As we've seen, it's just a fact of life that online sandbox games and online immersive communities attract a high ratio of "socially-challenged" individuals because of their very nature.
Many of these people bring some of their difficulties in social situations with them, into the games they play and the online personas they make.
The big difference is, in real life classrooms, workplaces, etc. the sort of behaviour you see on both sides has...consequences. In a virtual world like a minecraft server or Second Life or COD chat room, the consequences are lacking, or inconsistent.
The take home message is, if you're not happy with where you are online, you can always go elsewhere. But don't be fooled - the entire internet is neither all-sexist nor all-embracing. It's a reflection on real life. Don't let the bastards get you down.
I feel like this is a dumb thread(In my opinion) Why you would state out your sex on a server Completely makes me Clueless... Theres no benefit as to why you should say Your a girl. I mean why bring out the sexual Harassment in the first place? I mean seriously People on the internet shouldnt reveal There sex its much smarter. Another thing Ive noticed the General Audience of minecraft appeals to Most people that are < 18 (Under Eighteen. ) Which means Sexual Harassment Increases ( Or atleast that i have noticed ) So ive got a question for you
Why even Say that your a girl? Huh... its a smarter idea to just leave that alone. Let the Sexism Die. It wont die if you keep bringing it up.
Edit: Read a couple pages into The thread saw the words " Dont say this " Dont say that youre a girl " Well crap... i think this Post is forfeit
Saw this post. In my mind One word exploded " Sexist. " The stupidity That the person im quoting Didnt even give a damn to read the OP Just makes me Furious. >.<
Because then i will fight your manipulative strategy and look for a way to break the spell I do believe in womens rights.
Edit: i dont believe in manipulating others to get what you want and I will not be your slave Will power to the end.
Edit: I agree with what the op is saying even though i am male just a tip on servers to avoid Prison servers these seem to be where most sexual harassment happens
Of course there's gonna be secksual harassment on prison servers.
I know!!!!! That is why I don't wear girly skins on Minecraft! If you don't wear a girl skin on Minecraft and you are a girl, people won't creep up on you. A BOY told me about Minecraft! My best friend plays Minecraft! Mostly BOYS make Minecraft song! Listen to Somebody that I want to.... It is sung by a GIRL! MinecraftChick makes good Minecraft videos, even though she is a girl! She sings the first verse in her song and a boy sings in the second verse! MinecraftChick makes the best videos ever!!!!!
Sexual harassment is a illegal and punishable in real life, which is probably why they are like that. Even though letting other people know about this sounds useless overall, it helps certain individuals in the long run. (some has posted to add anti-sexual harassment rules to their server)
Note: The OP has shifted from complaining (after she said she changed her skin) to making people aware of this.
Here's an article I found with Google about it: http://www.nytimes.c...tirs-anger.html. It's a worse case of this and even the people mentioned against it were disagreed by a group of people in a more severe manner.
I should mention, sexual harassment laws change according to where in the world you reside [in many countries, women have different or no rights at all], which also includes where a server is being hosted.
In other cases, such as in private clubs // property, these laws also become a lot more obscured and harder to identify. You'll find that in almost any case of sexual harassment where:
Signed contracts for exclusive clubs, etc are present
servers located in different regions
Privately owned property where the person in question is not required to be or, legally, has no authority to be there
Most of those sexual harassment laws become irrelevant. This is why you won't see privately own servers being taken to court over this. If sexual harassment online was so well protected by law, you'd see a steady stream of media covering this extensively, and we don't, for the reasons I stated above.
tl;dr - sexual harassment isn't the same online as it is in real life. Same reason me stealing in-game currency for WoW will get me banned from the game, not extradited to a country I am not part if to face charges of Grand Theft Larson.
+1
Minecraft is a game for everyone and I'm tired of being harassed on servers for being a female.
I have one main question:
What is the difference of a girl being sexually harassed in an online gaming environment, and let's say -- a 12 year old boy being made fun of for his age, or me being called a racist remark that doesn't even follow my actual race?
I keep reading through these comments, and I keep seeing people saying the exact same thing. Everyone is trying to avoid stating what they might actually believe and some people are blindly following a thread to give them a sense of either self-righteousness or self-satisfaction.
Why is there not just a general harassment thread? Why not create a thread that covers all forms of harassment, with lists of servers that are known for having heavy racism, sexism and discrimination. Why does the thread only deal with womens rights and not everyones rights?
As far as I am concerned, everyone's rights outweigh women's rights -- because everyone's rights help more than just a single group who refuse to play on servers where they are treated equally.

If you want to start a thread for general civility and respect, be my guest .
The OP, however, is 100% within her rights to start a thread dealing specifically with this issue, which is regarded as a significant problem both in-game and at LAN-parties, conferences and other kinds of gaming conventions. Having a thread dedicated to discussing a single issue is also beneficial in that it allows us to discuss this issue more effectively.
You may not have issues with sexual harrassment, and it may be your desire to focus more on civility in general. Fine. Start a thread. Argue your case all you want. Have fun. However, don't come barging in here and ask us to stop because we're choosing to focus on one specific base. That's just being silly.

Sexual harrassment is sexual harrassment, just as racism is racism. If I make a racist remark, I make a racist remark, regardless of my forum or medium. Likewise with sexual remarks that make people (many of them children) feel uncomfortable -- it doesn't matter if I send them via SMS, e-mail, written letter or as a chat message ingame in the MC world.

The two main servers I have been on were great! all the guys were great I didn't get any special treatment it was nice they let me do my own thing and I let them do their own thing.. unless they went AFK then I would block them in an obsidian box =) So far I havent had any issues even on youtube I get the occasional "are you a girl?" once I say yes they just leave it alone and that is that. I guess I'm lucky.

Maybe you're right, but ask someone start another thread about that.
Anyway, gonna repost this link of an article I found about this gaming sexual harassment thing: http://www.nytimes.c...tirs-anger.html
It shows how far people who disagree about it can go.
As I stated before, I support this thread. But, just a couple of small issues. Firstly, as this thread was about ten year old girls, "women" is a little... wrong? This is a thread complaining about people crouching alot. I mean, I'm sorry, but it's not going to work. A girl on minecraft, like anyone else, has rights. You have the right to play on a server. So, by default, you have that same right to not play on a server. People shouldn't have to change their behavior to suit others. They can do what they want on their own servers. So, what right do you have, to say that they should change themselves to suit you? None at all. Instead, I have a counter proposal. A sort of alliance. You have server owners sign up, and create a sort of union. A list of servers which support basic ideas like this one. They can put a post on, with their server name, the server I.P, and a link to a separate post just about their server, and if they use hamachi or not. On the main post, you detail what rules you want followed, and anything else you want about their server(vanilla, mods, 24/7 or not, slots, how dedicated the staff is, ect.) We shouldn't just tell others what we want them to do. We should do it for ourselves. Get a union of friendly, nice servers that anyone can play on.
Well, servers not having rules against them even though the admin(s) know who they are and what they do is rather irresponsible. No server wants to end up in a controversy.
lol
