All I have to say to the morons who buy, use or sell cracked versions of Minecraft and then play online or on a server or host one, is that they should investigate the meaning of Net Topology and invest in a really soft pillow for Bubba, for when they get caught.
When you update the client you are publishing your IP address, not to mention you are using a program that is installed on your machine which is fully capable of recording and transmitting your Physical Address.
and before some mojo says it, no I am not talking about MAC computers lmao.
Your MAC address remains the same regardless of any proxy you may use.
and before anyone mentions changing the MAC address, it is not as simple as one may think nor is it worth the hassle of having to more than once in your life, let alone the suspicion it raises.
MAC address information is not published but it can be recorded and sent by an installed program.
Such as Minecraft..
On top of published information is the data stored by your ISP.
They will not protect you when given a court order for your information.
It might not seem common for people to get busted for piracy, but you can bet your sweet ass that it happens all day long and for every moment you continue to do it, you are gambling with your freedom.
There is no such thing as Premium Minecraft,
You either bought it, borrowed it from a friend/sibling or you stole it.
There are no trial versions and using that for your defense is really weak.
It's like getting busted for stealing a DVDR from Wal-Mart and using the excuse that you planned to pay for it next Friday. It doesn't work that way and if you don't change your act real soon you'll be Bubba's next pillow sooner than you think.
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. If he has the money to do it and doesn't, he is the biggest cr*p on the planet, and you shouldn't be friends with him (let alone this drug addiction?).
I think he meant dealer of cracked minecraft copies, not drugs lol.
Uhm i should have pirated the game, bought the game and found it it was just overated. Isn't a bad game but it doesn't worth the 30 or something dollars i spent on it.
I think $26 is a great price for any video game, as a lot go for around 60
Threads like this make me wonder what the legal status of modding is; a lot of software states in the license agreement that you can't decompile or modify it, yet anybody can download MCP and do just that, including cracking it (MCP has a readme stating not to do that, but they also say not to release the decompiled source - but isn't that the same as distributing MCP to decompile it, just adding an extra step?).
i bought minecraft because mojang deserves the money.
they are a hard working company with over 12 million buyers. just the pc version.
i encourage you to buy the legit version to support mojang.
1.) no
2.) Yes
3.) honestly, i started out using a cracked client. while its immoral they do allow you do download the game for free anyway. (in a sense letting you do what you will with it.) for the record since my "early days" ive purchased 5 separate minecraft accounts. if anything i would encourage the use of cracked accounts because. you still don't get the full experience this allows consumers to get "hooked" and eventually drives them to purchase the game. Honestly if Jeb did not want players using it dont you think he could put a stop to it? think of the resources he has at his disposal. Its a marketing campaign that isn't publicly recognized by the MC devs..the key word being....publicly,

3. Notch once told a person to download Minecraft as a cracked version, because the user had no money to buy the game. As far as i see this, it isn't illegal as long as the founder/leader of Mojang allows it to happen. If Notch/Jeb ever said that they don't want any more Minecraft cracks out on the web, it would become illegal.
I would say getting a cracked client is piracy. It is illegal. You aren't even giving anything back to Mojang for all the work they have put into creating this amazing game. Tell your friend to buy the actual version of the game.
I don't understand why people look down on people using pirated copies so much. I have seen a cracked server behave friendlier than the some premium servers. Most of them have already bought the premium version by now. That is exactly what Notch wanted when he said that he didn't mind. Mojang doesn't support pirated copies, but it's not like they are doing everything in their power to stop it.
You guys should just leave them be. It does not directly effect you in any way. It won't slow down updates or anything. You guys shouldn't really take this so seriously and just relax like Mojang.

Agreed.
Therefore, I'm rather neutral to the issue of Minecraft piracy. I'd be okay with it if the person in question couldn't afford it, if their parents have negative beliefs on video games and would stop they if they ever found them playing but still wants to join in the fun, or if they just want an extended period to see if the game is worth their money. So Notch was kinda right about his theory. On the other hand, if they have all the resources to get the game legitimately, their parents allow it, and they know the game is awesome, then I would be rather disappointed.
I'm not "sickened" just by the fact if somebody cracks something. After all, it all depends on their reasons.

Physical Address = (MAC address)

2. y dont u wanna play on a good server?
3. how did u afford your computer?
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
