My son plays this game alot. He is graduating 6th grade and I would like to paint his real life room to look like this 8 bit world! I've looked up pics online of bedroom designs, but it looks like there is NO "REAL WORLD" bedroom designs. I was thinking of buying a TON of those fusion beads to really have a neat affect of the 8 bit. But that seems a bit time consuming and hair pulling. Has anyone here heard of or tried to paint a full wall in the 8 bit pixelation? If anyone has ideas, pictures, websites or anything else to contribute, I would be very appreciative! My thoughts currently are either a nice outdoor scene (including water, sheep, wolves) or a actual bedroom scene (not the dark bricks, more wooden looking) with the actual torches coming out of the wall. Windows and a creeper peaking in. Problem is, I am unsure of HOW to paint in 8 bit pixels!!! THANKS!!!
I didn't read the post, sorry, but the title itself gives me the idea of making minecraft wallpaper which looks like a specific minecraft block. And also a carpet with a pattern of coloured minecraft wool. Would be epic to make my room look like it's made of stone brick or wooden planks.
yup. basically I would like to acheive the real life wallpaper effect on a real life wall to make it look like its in the game! I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find any ideas to make this go faster other than cubing the wall with pencil and paint individual blocks into a scene. Can anyone think of a way to make it a bit (pun intended... lol... bit...) easier?
Maybe try looking for a company that makes custom-designed wallpapers and stuff like that? I'm not sure they exist, but I don't see why they wouldn't. I'm sure someone out there would make them. And if they don't, I'm sure Mojang will prolly end up releasing them officially, just to squeeze more money out of peeps.
That makes two of us that want this I'm just graduating 6th grade and want a minecraft room but I can't seem to find wallpaper either. I also can't find bedding. Do you by any chance have any leads so far besides what SnowTwix put?
This guy did something similar. Check it for inspiration.
If you want to go all-out, rig up some Minecraft themed torches with wood, some transparant plastic, and red LED's then stick them on the walls for ambient lighting. For actual practical lights, get some cubic ceiling tile lights and put a transparent sheet over it with a glowstone pattern. Finding a twin bed with red sheets like the one in Minecraft should be easy enough. For windows you could use glass blocks, which you can find at most any hardware or home improvement store. Get a custom wallpaper designer to make a pattern from the game. I suggest wood, as cobble would make the room feel too dark. If you wanted you could probably find some custom-pattern rubber flooring and have that be cobble or wool. There's also some minecrafy stuff here or here you can look at and get ideas from. For example, get some foam pickaxes and swords from think geek and make a neat weapons rack. Put a cobble sticky note cube by his desk. Hang some minecrafty posters. Scatter creeper plushies/vinyls around. I'll list some more ideas if I think of them.
SnowTwix!! WOOOWWWWW Thats exactly what I am talking about!!! That was great! Do you have any tips on how to acheive this?! It looks amazing!!
It looks like printed wall paper. It shouldn't be hard to find a print or poster shop that will do custom prints in the size scale you need... you just have to provide the source image.
Wondering if you've made progress with your son's "real life" Minecraft bedroom? I'm thinking of creating a Minecraft-themed bedroom for my 6-year-old. Here are some thoughts:
• You can make make a brick pattern on the wall by taping squares onto the wall and painting over them. First paint the wall a solid color, such as a light grey. After the paint dries, stick squares cut out of contact paper onto the wall. Now paint a second, but darker, shade of grey over the wall (over the squares too). Once the paint dries, peel off the squares. You should have a mosaic pattern of light & dark greys. You could even do another layer of squares and paint third grey to get more dimension & pattern.
• Use mosaic tile on the wall, although it can be expensive, time consuming and permanent! Keep it to one wall or half a wall. Would be a *really* cool effect tho and tactile too.
Other elements:
• Wooden chest for storage
• Red comforter on the bed
• Wall mounted torch lights

MinecraftersMom THANK YOU SOO MUCH I am a yr 8 that loves minecraft and was looking for excalty what u were but i never thought of asking on forums so THANK YOU
Well how about something like: On the bottom of his wall we have a cave system but from a 2D persepective. Like we see a cave from the side. You would then see all the mobs (like zombies, skeletons) chasing Steve (the protagonist of the game) holding a diamond pickaxe. On the middle of the wall we would have the overland with snow, jungle, biomes and more with several villages. On the very top of the wall (or maybe the ceiling if you want it to be more atmospheric so to speak) we would have the clouds.
Since this is for a bedroom, don't forget to put a bright red bedsheet & white pillowcase on a single bed. That's the only bed option available in-game, so it would be a nice touch.
Hey I'm about half way through 7th grade and i want something similar, i want the layers of ore for my wall paper..... but maybe ill make it a bedroom, not sure
Not sure if you already did this but it might help others. I hand painted my son's room using pencil and a stencil to guide the lines. I taped the original blue but free handed the rest. This room has A LOT of natural light. I wouldn't go so dark in a smaller, darker room.
Carpet tiles. They are already cut into squares, and they come in every color you can think of. I'm doing the same thing for my daughter's room. And I'm doing this on her floor (brown for the dirt) then half way up the wall. Plus, get some green fabric paint, so you can paint the tops of the "dirt blocks" for the grass. Also, for the bed, there are pictures floating around for a pallet bed. Comes real close to the bed in minecraft, you can even put lights under it.

• For the Minecraft scene on the wall you can get a custom mural printed. Google "custom bedroom mural." Here's one of the sites:

You'll have to send them a screen shot of the scene in as high-res as possible.

I've started a Pinterest board to gather ideas. Feel free to check it out:

Don't forget to add torches for lighting:

Carpeting his floor with sample carpet squares would be a cool blocky look (& be cheap/free) but may not match with your decor ideas.

This is so cool!
I'd definitely buy huge posters like this if they were available from Mojang.
