I make all my own skins and if the one i use seems to be to similar to more than say 3 other people on the servers i go on, i change it/make a new one. This is why i currently am Zoidberg.
This may be quite a necro, but I was interested in this thread.
I was wondering... Is my skin horribly generic and bland? It's a 100% original skin that I made myself.
I know it has a hoodie, but it's not based off of Minecraft teenagers with hoodies. It is based off of a character I made in 2011, and I didn't play Minecraft until 2013.
Copies of youtubers, anime girls, animals/mobs in suits, and those skins where it looked like someone barfed on it and attached googly eyes.
I made my own skin because I feel unique and outstanding •3•

Actually, I tend to hate Mass-Shared skins in general, because they break one of my favorite mods that adds more player parts to a skin. I actually run the skin shop from right here on the Forums.
Famous Let's Players
Mobs in suits (although I do admit I use an Enderman in suit skin, and probably will never stop using suit skins. I edited mine a little though.)
Insert thing here in hoodie
Boy with eye covered by hair
Poorly made skins
Animals
Weird girl skins
Meme-related skins.
I don't mind constantly seeing these, but the lack of creativity shocks me.
Honeydew, Creepersuit, and strangely enough the upside-down steve ones which slice his head in half.
The skin I use currently is just a person with a quiver, gloves and a red streak in black hair. I've also got a variation which has some camoflage, and one without the quiver, which I use every now and then.
Never underestimate a steve skin with the diamond armour textures overlaid on top >
Anyway, I'm also currently trying to turn the dragon in my avatar into a skin. Hopefully it turns out nice, but the player model is quite restrictive.
I really hate emo skins, they are literally everywhere. I also really hate the inappropriate ones, which include naked skins, and skins that have dicks.
I do admit however, I use a chicken skin with a poorly drawn green shirt. Lack of creativity (because of green), but at least it's original. I'm gonna try and make it look better.
It looks like we're all hating on people for having a choice. It's like hating on little kids at Halloween for dressing like Spiderman, because it is "unoriginal" and "overused". The main point of Minecraft (and Halloween) is to look however you want, even if someone else finds it unoriginal or overused.

I find that lots of people tend to using the more average skins such as the default "Steve", But I have also noticed that there is a massive amount in herobrines, animal skins, and Mob in a suit. My skin is a guy in a red hoodie... with headphones, that I made myself.

There's really no reason to dislike people just because they didn't make their own skin. Not everyone is a pixel artist.
