Oh. I'm just trying to be helpful. When it went down i started looking at new skins and watching stuff on YouTube, so I really didn't notice how long it has been down for.
can you estimate how long like a day or a hour or something.
As far as i have seen there has been nothing from the mojang team in the last 10 hours so the best bet is that it wont be up anytime soon unless by some random chance that the solution resolves itself.
But know that they're enjoying everyone's money at the moment, so there's more important things to think of first. Like diving around naked in piles of cash. They'll get to you little people tomorrow. 3.5 hours - oh ya - Facebook they ain't (fave line from that fictionpile of a movie - WE DONT GO DOWN EVER! - Mojang - we go down - alot. All the time in fact - hey - we're not hosting an enterprise site, just an authentication server - the ones that check names and passwords - those are tricky ya know (at least they are if you don't load balance for millions of new users stampeding from the Xbox).
Microsoft tech support must be loving a million console noobs flooding their phonebanks. Comedy gold baby!
Funny.. I was thinking the exact same thing about facebook (or any major site out there) and how mojang has a pile of cash yet can't keep authentication servers up and running smoothly.
Currently, you really don´t know at all what is happening behind the scenes and if they are working on it or not, not to mention that it is a holiday which Jeb already had announce like what? A few days earlier? Not to mention that in Europe it's only about 8:40 now, people are just waking up there.
Also, I could have sworn it was publicly announced that Notch doesn't have much to do with Minecraft anymore, already working on his next game and thus it mostly falls onto Jeb and his team.
It's funny how people always think they know better, logins are down for barely a few hours and they think Notch and all are supposedly too high and mighty to deal with such "petty issues" and swimming in cash.
They're not - but real companies that have millions of users and millions of dollars actually (get this) "hire" people - to babysit tech in the wee hours. It's called supporting your tech infrastructure. People like Steam employ them all the time. At the moment, one twitter stream from a Mojang member says he doesn't know what to do to fix it.
That's professionalism baby! All the way!
Oh, and that "few" hours is now over 4. Awesome! I think they're going to go for a full 10 - or if the holiday makes it happen (oh please, we need a good news story), the entire weekend. But when you drag your sorry butt back to work and school you'll know that your favorite game is now available again. Maybe. Probably. Well, likely.
And don't forget with the holiday, that'd be a 3 day weekend. But then again it's Europe where holidays are nice and long so perhaps a week. They do thank you for the naked money bath tho. Soothes the soul.
Oh cut the crap really, it already shows that they are working on it and it shows that the one who is supposed to work on it is currently out of town.
So let's see, let's compare this to the bigger players, Blizzard and EA/Bioware with WoW and SW:ToR respectively,
1. Server goes down due to unexpected results/reasons/whatever.
2. Playerbase whines, bitches, complains and whatever as they are impatient little buggers.
3. People of said company are working on it, and you know, they 'hire' people too to check on those servers.
4. Hours pass by, playerbase still whines, bitches, complains and whatever cause they're getting more impatient.
5. Issue gets resolved, threads of whining players still go on.
That's the typical scene when a server goes down, not just for Mojang, not just for Blizzard or EA or Bioware but for any other company that holds servers for players to login. So really, stop acting like the next dousche cause you think you know better on how a company runs things and what actually happens behind the scenes.
Feel free to start your own game, and see what it feels like for millions of people to demand you be at their personal beck and call. You agreed to buy minecraft, Mojang owes you nothing past the game you purchased, which is still available to play offline.
Forget all the bug fixes and additional features that I've received for FREE, screw mojang for inconveniencing me for a few hours of my precious little minecraft-playing life, right? Dude, get the hell over yourself.
And what's with your obsession with naked dudes and cash baths? Creepy.
Actually, no. Because they don't. Lets see if Steam is up - hey look at that! It is! Isn't that cool? I bet Microsoft is enjoying the 1million plus users of their Xboxes who are now sending in complaints. That'll go over great. Perhaps Microsoft can loan them a server and some bandwidth and some guy off the street whose paid in cases of Pabst Blue Ribbon to make sure the little lights stay on the server. While they're out at the money baths.
But of course Steam is "perfect" and "never" has issues. Bullcrap, every site or company that holds servers has issues, even Steam. Most MMO's have server issues at least once a month if not even more then that.
Oh and btw, I honestly shouldn't have to tell you this cause you surely already know since you know everything but (get this) you don't have to login on Minecraft to play it on the Xbox! How amazing is that? But you already knew that right? Of course you did.
Ya no, see this isn't a free website (which can stay on 24/7 in the real world because they make real money and have real obligations to their users) - this a product that actually has cash attached to it. So see, I paid them, so they do owe me. That's what paying money for something is all about. I gave them money and they owe me a working product. There's even laws that protect consumers that say exactly that.
I wonder if Notch has farted out any currency after he passed out ass-end into the money pile holding a vodka bottle in one hand, and the other hand, well ... you really don't want to know what the other hand is holding.
Yeah, you paid them, and they gave you Minecraft. What makes you think they owe you any more than that? Like I said, you can still play offline, which still has every aspect of the game, except your skin, and multiplayer servers.
The fact that you absolutely can not cope with a temporary loss of what is in every way a GIFT, combined with your utter obsession with the mojang team being naked, drunk, and groping themselves, I'd say you need some serious psychological help kid. At the very least, it's something to keep you occupied until your poor, precious 2 features of an entire game come back.
Or you can keep whining and bitching on the forums. I'm sure that's far more productive than anything else you could be doing right now.
probably doesn't require perfection - it just requires half a brain, and at least one all-time staffer. But hey what's a few dozen million dollars going to buy you? Someone who can sit next to a box? Nahhhhh. It buys you money-hot-tubs and lots of lotion.
And that just clearly shows you have no idea what it takes and what is involved in order to run a company, I'm starting to think you have less then half a brain with your constant obsessions of them behind naked and swimming in money. Cause of course they are like Scrooge McDuck and have a giant vault with nothing but money in it like all the other million making companies! Again, bullcrap, most of that money goes into the company rather then being used for your perverted ideas of naked middle-aged men covered in lotion.
Oh and hey: https://twitter.com/#!/Marc_IRL/status/203742716251738112 They're actually confirming that the server will be fixed soon, gee, just like it was said that they would because it was just a typical server failure that lasts a few hours and pisses everyone off cause they are impatient little buggers. Or have weird perverted ideas like yourself.

Multiplayer is part of the game I purchased.. I pay real money every month for a server for some of us to play on... Which, none of us can get to because Mojang is still stuck in the "we're a little indie company" mentality as opposed to realizing they left that realm when they made their first million.. How many other companies and people run servers that no one can play on right now? How many of those servers make revenue that pays other peoples salaries, puts food on their table etc. Seriously.. I used to work for one of the biggest game companies out there and this type of stuff was not tolerated.. It's part of running a professional business where you actually take serious pride in your business and the responsiblities that entails. Mojang has the money to ensure that these types of things don't happen as often as they do.. As long as people like you and others continue to cut them slack because you view them as an little indie company being run out a basement, this will continue. Demand excellence since they have the resources now to deliver on it.

Professional companies run multiple servers in multiple locations so that "one" server, router etc etc etc going down does not bring down everything.
And of course, the topics will just keep on coming. The issue may be explained just 2 topics down the list, but this is MEANINGLESS! THE HOARDS OF IMPATIENT PEOPLE WILL NOT BE STOPPED BY YOUR PUNY TOPIC!!!
Oh how I wish they were....
The correct term is "hordes" not "hoards"
a hoard is
1. a very LARGE amount of stored items
2. temporary wooden walls/roofs put on castles for defense

You realise this thread is made by a minecraft forum's moderator....
is 1.3 out?
