I didn't even read your whole OP because it was idiotic for the most part, so forgive me if I missunderstood something.
1. You do not know the original meaning of Minecraft. You only know what it was like before they added in the desired features.
2. Singleplayer is still completley different from multiplayer. Singleplayer maps can only be played with multiple people through a LAN to LAN connection. I.E. you wont have some random guy from Hungary come and start greifing your world while you sleep. (Sorry Hungarians if that offended you.) As well, the owner of the world must be online for a LAN world to be played. A multiplayer server can be accessed whether the owner is currently playing or not, so long as the server exe is running. Server's can be accessed by anybody at anytime, again, so long as the server is running. You should probably actually play the game in it's different aspects before claiming you know all about it.
3. Finally, there are enough threads like this, posing the exact same points, and getting the exact same responses. Why not just reply to one of those? Threads like this make it hard to find the ones that actually have suggestions to contribute to the game. I bet more suggestions would be noticed by Mojang if there wasn't thousands of complaint threads like this one.
It's people like you, who post stupid things like this that ruin the experience for others. We try to make reasonable contributions to the community, but then your posts, and your ideas get in the way of actual suggestions and actual ideas. Please, from the bottom of my heart, people like you, leave. We don't need more complaint threads.
the only update i have hated in the past was the endermen, mostly because its greifing capabilities. i wouldn't mind if it was strategic greifing like removing a wall for a creeper to get through, but no its just annoying "i want attention" greifing haha.
Those inventory editor programs became popular with the cheaters of minecraft.
Cheaters? Are you implying that there is a correct way to play minecraft? Just have a look at some of the forum subtopics. You can survive (Survival), you can build,(Creative), you can create computers and the like (Redstone), you can make and share custom maps (Maps). Just because someone isn't playing the game the way you want them to or think they should play, that doesn't automatically brand them as a "cheater".
Most (like me) just want to stay with the ability to survive, craft, and build.
You mean most of you who lord over the masses for joining during Alpha/early Beta? Who look down upon those who purchased their accounts any time after Beta 1.3? Who feel as though the game and its developers are theirs to command?
I don't like _jeb's Idea of being able to make mods.
Mods were able to be created since the early days of beta. The introduction of the mod API just makes it easier. And why would you be opposed to the idea of people modifying the game to suit themselves? It's not like anyone is forcing you to download anyone's mods.
My point is, you need to stop believing that everyone has exactly the same playstyle as you. Hate mods? Don't download them. Hate the updates?Use MCNostalgia. Hate Minecraft? Then don't post on the damn forums.

Hi, this may sound like I'm lazy, but I need someone to give me a 16 x 16 banana texture. I will give you credit on my forum post when my mod is finished. I just need a simple banana, and I've gone through 7 different custom bananas and I've tried resizing multiple images. If you could give me a simple banana, that would be great. I need it for a mod, it will either be called BakeMod or Pies! I don't know why I have trouble with photoshop and a simple 16 x 16 banana, but overall I suck at texturing. First person to post a 16x16 PNG format banana will get credit and their image will be used in my upcoming mod for 1.2.3!
xMcNerdx, while I respect what you said, some parts I think were kind of wrong such as saying that everyone wants to beat the game. I, personally, and probably many others, don't want to beat the game. Sure I want to fight the Wither but only maybe once or twice to try it out, exactly like I did with the ender dragon. Also, Jeb is trying to stop people being able to make exp farms, I don't know how but he is. Now I'm gonna talk about the OP. Yes, many people say that minecraft was better in Alpha. But lots of them have admitted that it is because in Alpha many of the core parts of minecraft were being made, such as beds (maybe, I don't know I haven't played since Alpha) and different building blocks. But now that minecraft has finished with the core details, they are trying to add things to make the game seem better. You may not think it's better, but others do, in fact, the majority of players, apart from those whiners who complain about how the terrain sucks. Thank you for taking your time reading this post

You don't have to kill the Ender Dragon.
It's completely optional, just like everything else in Minecraft, with the exceptions of AI updates and the Hunger and XP bars.
No one is forcing you to use Cheating Mods. They were very likely created for Map making.
The merge of Singleplayer and Multiplayer doesn't look like it changed anything. It still seems to play like it did before the merge.

I love going to the End!
It's the main goal I set for myself every time I make a world:
-Get to the End
-Defeat Enderdragon
-Take all the Endstone
-Make an Enderman Farm
ENDLESS F*ING ENDER PEARLS!
Haha!! XD I'm also not good at fighting anything, even a rat, much less an Enderdragon. I love watching Toby Turner play and win, but I would probably never do so myself.
I don't get why people complain about updates, I've been playing since classic and i have never had a problem, Complaining about something never accomplishes anything. If you don't like it leave, no one is forcing you to play minecraft!
While I respect your opinion, I find that most if not all of what you say is optional. Mod support doesn't affect the game and you don't have to use mods, it is just an extra. You don't need to beat the game at all. While I never really liked the idea, I never let it bother me. I don't know enough about the smp vs ssp merge, but from what I know, it only deals with LAN stuff that you can turn off, same with the snooper settings. Like I said, I don't know much about that stuff, so I may be wrong. there are programs out there that can downgrade Minecraft anywhere from infdev to the current version, with a few holes here and there. I play a lot of alpha and early beta, and even the current version since a lot of the stuff is optional if a little in your face with the exp and such.
I do have on suggestion to make for you, if you hate that screen so much, think about getting magic launcher, it doesn't affect the game more than you want it too, and you never see that screen, you can easily change the default window size and the RAM you give it, and a few other little things.

Self plug because I feel like it! www.youtube.com/thecalmpsycho for Minecraft and other things! Be warned though, I do swear ... a lot.
What makes me mad about this is the guy's complete lack of understanding about how the game works. He's literally saying "I'm not updating because it gives me the ability to choose whether or not to do things I may or may not want to do, and it makes it easier to play with friends, and it makes it easier to improve the game on your own!"
...Also all the SMP/SP merge did was make it so people didn't need to make separate versions of mods for single and multiplayer, and allowed people to connect directly into single player worlds. It also brought about a host of bugfixes for both gametypes.
errrrrr.... da heck you talking about boy, mods are a huge part of minecraft firstly, secondly, nobody ever said "if you dont beat the enderdragon your a loser, nobody said that you HAD to do anything at all. Everything added to the game has improved it in my opinion, or not done anything at all. for example, do we need a mini head of all the mobs? no, does it hurt anyone to add them, no. Secondly, i believe that you may be misinformed on the single player = multiplayer thing. I dont believe that single player is the same as multiplayer, because only LAN works with single player which, in case your stupid, means Local Access Network, that means only local players (on the same network) can join your game, and also, if your wireless and wired internet broke, you could still play minecraft single player, so its not the same as multiplayer.
And i truly think that it was not right of you to blame all of this on Jeb and notch. Much of the games concepts came from other employees, or the community, and lastly, i truly think that minecraft will live much longer then this update. and the likeliness that someone is actual gonna start a real protest, well you have a greater chance to be struck by lightning when on the moon, then for someone to actually sart a real and succesful protest
This doesn't mean that I'm not playing minecraft anymore. I'm never updating. And many of you should consider this.
My first vision of the game minecraft was amazing. I played and played for what seemed like days. I tried to survive, and even make a diamond block. Minecraft was an amazing game for me. The community was nice, the updates were great, up until now. Ever since _jeb took over the development of minecraft, things are getting bad. The original idea of minecraft has just been flushed down the toilet. Now I do not mean to be a troll with the following sentences. Please don't hate me for saying this, but minecraft is getting to the stage where it practically sucks! The original idea of minecraft was to survive in your own world. You could mine, you could smelt, you could craft, and you could build. Now, minecraft has been taken to a new idea which makes minecraft steal the ideas from terarria. I can't believe the things that _Jeb has done to literally f**k minecraft.
He is adding modding support, which I don't agree to. Minecraft was never about modding, and about a year ago, few would make mods. They would create mods that allowed you to cheat, like TooManyItems (Beta 1.2) and Single Player Commands (A. 1.2.6). Those inventory editor programs became popular with the cheaters of minecraft. Although there have been those mods that just ruin the game, there were some mods that were good (Aether, EvilMinecraft, Tale of Kingdoms, MoCreatures, etc.). Now most of those mods are not even being updated anymore. The best mods were total conversions of minecraft. I don't like _jeb's Idea of being able to make mods. Modding was never a part of minecraft, and never should be one of the main ideas of minecraft. I'm not saying that making minecraft mods is bad, I'm just saying that the modding shouldn't be a big part of minecraft.
Another thing is the adventuring. Minecraft started out as a game where you build and create things. I think that adding the sword and mobs were enough, but notch and _jeb just didn't make the right decisions about minecraft. Now we have to actually beat the game! I don't like having to go on a big journey just to beat the game. Ravines were enough. With all of the new features of minecraft, it seems that notch or _Jeb were hinting a story about minecraft with the features. It makes sense for there to be mysterious wells, NPC villages, isolated strongholds, and even a disk that may have given a hint about Herobrine (The disk named 11) to be part of a story. We don't want any stories about minecraft. Most (like me) just want to stay with the ability to survive, craft, and build. With all of this adventure stuff, I'm not surprised if minecraft suddenly turns into terraria!
One of my last reasons is the multiplayer functions. Now we need a minecraft server to play singleplayer. Sort of like gmod, minecraft server and singleplayer is pretty much the same thing. I don't want this. Believe it or not, with the fact that there is no such thing as singleplayer anymore means that minecraft just took down many mods. Mods like T.M.I and S.P.C or any other mod that counts on the minecraft singleplayer jar is gone. There is no way to make a mod like T.M.I in singleplayer because T.M.I has some functions in the mp version and the sp version. With there being no more singleplayer, the functions will be raped. You can also be disconnected from a SINGLE PLAYER WORLD! That is why I'm never updating minecraft again. If people want to start a protest about minecraft, I will automatically support that.
Now, don't yell at me. Don't flame me. Don't ban me or ridicule me, because I have a point. Minecraft was good from the beginning to 1.2.5. I have a point. Minecraft is at it's final stage of being popular
Rubbish!i think that your being stupid Jeb is just bringing Minecraft To the Next Level. You must be a Simple Person. You get minecraft and you want it to stay that way.But me on the Other Hand I want Minecraft To Get Better and Better otherwise it will be the same old Minecraft!(Boring)
All the new stuff is fine. It gives you more things to do. It doesn't mean you are forced to do them.
Mods and cheats are fine too. They let you do and accomplish more stuff and again you aren't forced to use them.
Some folk are getting annoyed because mods/cheats let you do stuff more easily. So what? Their existence doesn't affect YOUR survival game does it?
Mods and Cheats might have an impact of a multiplayer environment, but as ever, you've got to pick and choose the environments that best suit your needs (i.e. the ones in which you don't consider the other players to be dicks and their activities and goals to be in line with your own).
I have no problem with any of that. What I DO have a problem with is when new stuff introduces bugs, performance hits and game play instability. I also have a problem with frivolous things being added when long standing bugs remain unfixed.
At the end of the day what would you have rather had? A proper fix to the lighting bug, or the introduction of the Witch? Stabilisation of the server to remove single player synchronisation issues, or the introduction of the bat?
You might say that the introduction of the small stuff doesn't take long compared to fixing the game's major short comings, but the game still needs fixing never the less and the sooner they start on it the sooner they'll finish. If the fixes are actually going on now behind the scenes, then at least say so, so we can be reassured.
I'm not sure what Mojang are playing at, but this software of theirs, that has long been out of beta, is still not finished. It still does not work properly in all respects. Isn't it about time the old bugs got fixed and that new changes don’t get implemented until they themselves are bug free?
I've been around since alpha too. I still think finding diamonds is awesome because they're F***ING IMPOSSIBLE to find. I avoid endermen so I don't get ender pearls so I can't go to the End. If I want to play the way it was before, I turn off generated structures and start a world on default with no specified world seed. The game plays the same as it used to. You can use the new features or not. The choice is up to you.
Sometimes I forget that Jeb is the one in charge of develepment and think that Notch is still Mr. Minecraft (in my mind, he always will be). If Notch were still the one developing the game, would you hate the changes as much as you do?
I've been playing since Alpha too, but I would have to disagree with every part of this post. Minecraft got stale really fast back in alpha, when all it was about was just mining and crafting. I'm really glad they added all these features, or I would have stopped playing long ago.
And mods are really what drove the game. Take a look at bukkit for example, a server mod. So many great things have come from bukkit, and you really have good control over what you can do with your server. If you want a PvP server, you can make one. If you want an RPG server with NPC's that talk to you, you can do that too. Even if you want a vanilla survival server, bukkit really comes in handy when managing it. The possibilities with bukkit are endless, and it really adds a whole lot to the game. Mods are what makes Minecraft the game it is, so I'm really glad to see the mod API finally coming.
And also, I like the boss additions. When my friends and I used to play, we would build a small city and we were done. There was nothing to really do. Now we can adventure into caves and the nether to collect blaze rods and hunt for wither skeletons, because we actually have an objective now. We can farm and mine and get all the gear, and then fight the boss. When it's over we go back to our city, and do it all over again.
Not sure how to end this post, but I really like the direction Minecraft has taken. You can still play the old alpha way, nobody is forcing you to do the boss fights and "finish" the game. You can find a server that is targeted for the way you like to play, or you could even make one and disable everything you don't like. Which is, again, why mods a great, because you can have total control over everything.
Play the way you want to, that's what Minecraft is all about.
1. You do not know the original meaning of Minecraft. You only know what it was like before they added in the desired features.

Terraria stole from Minecraft.
So, I decided to lurk around in your profile. Not only do you make mods, you play mods as well. What a hypocrite.
