How many times have you lost your pet wolves and cats to monsters?
I'll tell you mine. I have a house thats built into the end of a small ravine, there are two entrances, a ladder outside the ravine and a door at the bottom. On top of the ravine is a storeroom i dump stuff in. So one night i was wondering around my house, looking for mobs to kill. To my surprise i found two endermen near my storeroom. I attacked and this resulted in a fight with both of them. Sadly me and the endermen were knocked into the ravine and i died. The endermen were still alive and wondering the ravine. I spawned in my house and noticed my pet wolf trying to run through the door to maul the endermen. I let him out and we both attacked them. I was punching the endermen like crazy and they were attacking my wolf. As i killed one of them my pet wolf was killed. You can guess what happened afterward. I got my stuff and mauled the remaining enderman to death. And i made a grave for my pet wolfie.......
So talk about your pets deaths below, whether its creepers or spider jockeys or whatever. (And cat deaths)

To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
Um my pet dog decides to take jumps off ledges instead of taking the safe path I take. Another time my pet wolf wasn't careful around lava, or should I say, magma.

Yeah, when those types of things happen people tend to say "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

Never lost a cat. Only ever had two. Don't really have a reason to ever have cats not sitting.
Wolves, rarely use. Armor, even iron is pretty good even on hardcore mode. Last time I was using wolves it was hunting endermen faster before the sun came up. They'd often kill a wolf or two. But breeding, can always make more pretty fast.
I consider iron golems more a pet then the animals. They may not follow you, but you can't just breed them, so that makes them a bit more valuable and they make ok base guards.
first cat got stuck under a lily pad or something and drowned. Or at least that's all I could figure. I was in the water, it was splashing around then I heard the kitty arggh and it was gone. I am near a swamp and there are lots of lily pads.
I ordered my dogs to attack an Iron Golem in my village. My wolves tried to attack the golem, but the Iron Golem tried to attack the wolves and its more like WWE wrestling. A few of my wolves died and I started to kill the golem with my other remaining wolves.
I recovered my Wolf army soon after creating a new world.
Animals kept going on top of my chests in 1.2.5 so i killed them and several of my dogs randomly teleported to me when i was exploring and they were sitting down, and i was in a desert and they got killed by cacti and two drowned in an above ground lava pool.
I had abput 2cats who made 2children; i had 2 dogs who made 1 children.
In creative mode i had lava around a village in flatness. Trying to see what they kill they ran around in a circle o-o
I guided them back wards toward the lava (by accedent) they were fine; i took a turn then there was creepers on the other side of the lava; so of corse the cat is gonna try to go closer with the others fallowing it...burning they go. then there was a few skeletons...there goes the dogs.
:\ stupid pets. and yet animals never had a war.
My 2 chickens: Were in a fenced in area that was 2 fences high, next to a jungle and somehow an ocelot managed to kill my chickens through the fence.
2 Dogs: I built a long descending staircase into my mine and along the way I had netherrack torches built into the wall with glass panes in front of them for light, for some reason when my dogs teleported to me they ended up getting burned to death on the torches in the walls.
Another dog jumped into a pool of lava.. I kinda just stared at the lava pool while I let that one register with me.
2 cats, one sat on a chest and my friend killed it because it kept him from his diamonds... :[ Poor kitty. Another one mysteriously vanished out of nowhere. Then we decided to go across this huge body of water to another land area and (this was weeks after the cat vanished) when we got to land the cat teleported right in front of me and scared me so bad I hit it with my sword and killed it.. XD
My cat died because I have a house out in the middle of the lake and he got underneath and drowned.
On a different world, I have a floating house that attaches to a mountain with a little bridge, and my dog walked right off the edge. It was a multiplayer world and I was Skypeing with my friend and we were both like NOOOOOOOO!

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened <3
Chocolate + swimming = true happiness
only time was when i had a dog army... a creeper ended that dream... form that day on I never tame an animal except cats and I keep them safe in my house
I'm afraid *I* am the cause of my pet death moments. After awhile I get tired of the barking/meowing, drives me nuts. I thought pets in the game would be cool. I'll stick with all my real life critters.
I remeber playing minecraft for the first time and my pet wolf came into my mineshaft, and a skeleton poped out and attacked. My wolf was on low health and died, and then a creeper blew me up and destroyed my mineshaft. I had to respawn and get a new wolf. Now after months of trainning my skills, Idestroy EVERY SKELETON I SEE!! XD Muwhahahaha!! NOOOOO!!!! wolfie!
I was in a taiga when I saw a wolf coming. He lucky I had 50 bones so I tamed him. We had a lot of fun walking together mining together and ate steak together. One day, I saw a skeleton trying to shoot me and it shot me. Then my wolf went to go kill him but no luck... he died. So then I avenged for him.
Moral of the story? Skeletons always get the last laugh.
I had a cat that suffocated in the wall overnight. Pretty sure it was because I had a pressure plate table in the corner. Switched the top of the table to carpet. Then, I got 2 more cats, bred them. Had 4. Made them all sit in the yard. I went into my workshop and heard one doing that sad cat dying sound. Ran back out and there was thread floating where one cat was sitting. I am on Peaceful. Can't figure out what happened to the poor kitty.

I tried negative reinforcement for my pet dog Harold Godwinson. Turns out I turned into a bit of William from Normandy, if you get what I mean.
