I love how there was a thread whining about Mojang stealing mods earlier today, then this thread shows up.

"Science isn't a matter of WHY, it's a matter of WHY NOT? WHY is so much of our science dangerous? Why don't you marry safe science if you love it so much? In fact, why don't you invent a special safety door that won't slam you in the butt on your way out? BECAUSE YOU ARE FIRED!" -Cave Johnson
If you look closely there is many different mods that are in Minecraft the regular game.
Mojang doesn't take many of them publicly of Minecraft users that build the mods ***** about how Mojang takes there " Mod " and that's it's over copyright. Which rather makes me LOL in a epic figure.
Mostly copyright stuff, but they do adapt many mods into vanilla: wolves, ocelots, dragons, pistons, redstone repeaters, netherrack, endermen, villagers and their villages, several lava/water updates, snowmen snow golems, cake (probably), and many others. Just check the version history.
And they're not going to put in guns, warships, MLP, or vehicles. The game, to be honest, has a lot of content already.
Course nothing like that.
The only thing that could and HELLA would not kill to be added is such like Coral Reef mod and maybe Koi or Fish based mod to add some life to those dead dead oceans and lakes and seas. As well maybe some farming mods or addins, but oceans come first.
They have in the past, as discussed above.
However, one I didn't see was McRegions. That was put into the game in (I believe) Mid-Beta. It really sped up Minecraft and made it much easier to run on laptops and such. I know OptiFine is around now, but that was really only needed due to Minecraft's code overhaul.
My main theory is that Mojang tends to be a wee bit arrogant, thinking that most things in mods are silly and not real "game material". The funny part happens when they themselves fall in love with a mod and are forced to add it in, having to of course reskin and change the dynamics of it first to make it original (pistons).

Pistons
Increased world height
Redstone lamps
Villages

You can't really say Increased World Height was due to a mod. That was due for a long time, and the code that made it possible wasn't taken from the mod.
I wouldn't see the point in them taking ideas from mods - it's generally pretty easy to install them. It'd be a waste of time, in my opinion - if you wanted a particular feature you could just spend 10 minutes figuring out how to add it your own personal minecraft.
Maybe they think the same way. I think it would be much more beneficial to make it easier to install / create mods than to just take ideas.
well yes its true... i only bought this game when it was close to version 1.0.0 (Full release), So i wouldn't have been able to tell if mojang has ever done that. However if mojang owns minecraft, wouldn't that mean they would also own the mods made for the game?

Mojang has said that if they want, they can take a mod and put it into the game without the modders having any say. Maybe not the exact code, but if there is something they like like about a mod they can freely use it.
You sir, are wrong about Mojang not adopting ideas. In fact they thrive almost 100% off of the community. If ideas are thought up by mojang, they will toss a small teaser to the world, from here they gauge the love/hate, and add or remove it.
If they don't think something up, they take mods from others, put them in the game, and than get bitched at for doing so.
Dont forget potions. Not exactly the same as the mod, but still.
"WHY YOU NO ADD MODS? THEY SO MUCH BETTAR THEN YOUR CONTENT!"
Then they add the mod in question.
"OMG, WHY YOU STEAL MODS?"
Because they're working on something even better: Mod API.

And that's all I have to say about that.

That totally wasn't pointed out before.

Potions, wildgrass, heck probably farming, but don't quote me on that.

And smooth lighting was a mod.
