When I heard Jeb was increasing the world to a 256 vs 128 I was very excited. Then I said wait, I hope he makes the water level which was roughly 64 (or center) roughly the same so it would be 128. .. Boy am I disappointed. Sooo much room for adding cool stuff underground and new materials and mobs etc and now nothing. I understand why he did it but I mean why not at least move it a good 20 levels up or something and add some new stuff?
1. something gets added, such as a block or feature that has no use
2. 1-3 updates later a use for it is added, and another useless feature
3. repeat steps 1-2 for the majority of updates.

note: Then I mention a group of people in my posts, i mean the majority of information i have seen from that group, and my statement may not be accurate for every individual in that group.

The additional height is ONLY for creating tall/large structures. They told us before the patch released that terrain generation isnt being effect at all.
yes but your adding 128 to the top with out even making the mountains higher..
adding 64 to the top would still solve that problem and give you alot more underground content.

But then people would complain that they can't build their awesome mountain castles, and they'll have to increase the size AGAIN.

adding 64 to the top and 64 tot he bottom WOULD be better.
It would also require changing the terrain generation, generating new chunks (or possible new worlds, since there could be sharp borders between chunks where bedrock wouldnt be.
Again, this isnt about anything except big/better buildings.
Why does the the water level need to be higher? The block height was increased so we could build taller things. Higher water levels would just negate that.
That would create a LOT of issues with lag because it'd take much more to render another 64 layers of 90% pure blocks/liquids, as opposed to a straight 128 layers of air.
And people would complain at the overabundance of caves even more.
Also, this would screw up ore spawning rates to high heavens and make transferring your world to 1.2 if you have a mine designed for the current ore levels completely useless.

Exactly for the circle stone brick.

Sir, I don't know what's going through your head, but I know for a fact that underwater worlds would be awesome.
