one random day in 10years when minecraft has been long forgotten one kid will stumble upon yogscast survival island.. and reignite the fad
wait no.. I see it all so clearly now.
5yrs mojang releases robot Steven to better mankind.. 10 years steven multiplies and begins killing off humans.. 15 years mankind blows out the sun to stop solar powered stevens.. 20 years. stevens harvest humans for energy by farming them and placing there subconscious in mineatrix
5 years from now?
Most of the players now will discover cars and girls and have no time for an old game like minecraft.
Notch comes up with Minecraft2 (or MC3), and no one plays the original anymore.
There will be much better clones out.

you can only move the speed of light within space, however as far as we know space itself can do whatever the hell it wants
In time it will slowly evolve to an RPG type of game allowing us skill sets, roles, currency, hierarchy, NPC guards, jail, banks, markets, investment market, horseback riding, carriages for transporting items/people, drug trade (potent potion), lock picking, bounties, mercenaries, conflicts between different empires and their cities, etc etc.
It will be kind of like runescape. A game that is not expensive. If fun and accessible for most people that can't afford big computer. It also have frequent update.
If they keep going this way they could really have alot of people playing in 5 years from now.
Also it had an outstanding modding community witch has alot of imagination. So when people will get bored they can download map, mod and enjoy the game like it was a new game.
It is very different than other games, With all the updates and mods I see a decrease in popularity, but it will take a hell of a long time to die because there never is an end really.
I see not minecraft, but rpgcraft. Basically, the original meaning of the game will be completely lost.
Whys this?
Weapon enchantments are entirely optional and aside from that, u dont have any rpg things. (unless making ur final boss a dragon counts as rpgish)

u mean it will turn into a game where u click on something 1 million times to do nothing except level up 5 times?
Sorry but never compare minecraft to a mmorpg game, since minecraft isent a game that offers less content then a cod game but makes u work for hours on end to get 5% of it
I think Minecraft has yet to explode to the masses.
The only thing keeping it in the way from reaching out to the vast majority is the learning curve, which takes a while.
There's a possibility that a company such as Microsoft could implement Minecraft onto Windows as an official built in desktop game. If that were to happen, it would become one of the most popular games in the world. The problem is that the game is still unfinished, once they can integrate an official quest system -- and massive servers to hold thousands as an MMO, then it'll reach mainstream gamers.
I see...I SEE...I SEE MINECRAFT 4D!
+Ability to enter/exit game
+Ability to play through webcam
-All Herobrine Entities (for the millionth time, but for real this time)

I have honestly thought about having my grandfather help me with trying to make and field a 3D operating system based off of the Minecraft "cube world".
5 years from now minecraft will be EVERYWHERE! it really wouldn't surprise me to see this game actually go the distance of becoming mainstream... but i guess then I can't play it anymore XD. anyway, a lot of kids in my school used to make fun of me for showing my creations to my teachers in school (I used to make builds for History class and whatnot.). then they got PE. they were obviously very sorry.
um do u want the world to end?????

The grandfather nods.
"Yes, Samuel. I had one of these when I was young."
The boy plays with the computer.
"What's a Minecraft?"
The grandfather laughs.
"It's a videogame."
Samuel is confused.
"You mean, like CoD 83, or Halo Betazor IV?"
The grandfather moves him aside.
"My boy, let me show you how a real gamer does it...."

Added the ability to be sucked into Minecraft.

thats about 20-50 years maybe.
As with a meme im predicting now, that scene will be followed by the kid slowly lighting up more and more while the skyrim theme plays.
BECAUSE EVERY THING GOES WITH THE SKYRIM THEME! (Why is this not a meme?)

P.S. Does anyone want a full 1.4 snapshot .zip?
