Alright, I already bought minecraft a long time ago, paid my money, etc. I'm not unsure about whether or not this piracy, but I'm not sure about what the cyber-police or whatever will think.
Basically: I've been trying for the last few days to install some mods to my minecraft folder, and after exhausting every alternative I've decided to just copy the minecraft file of a friend of mine who already has the mods, and drop them into my computer. I'm not taking minecraft itself, just the mods.
If you already own the game, I don't think it would be considered piracy.
You shouldn't have anything to worry about.

If I helped you in any way, or if you think my smart-assed comments were funny. Please hit the green button in the lower right corner of my post. Thanks!
This is legit, so no worries. However, I wouldn't try this with anything by EA or such, as the big companies like to step all over your fair use clauses. (Say sharing all of Madden NFL 2011 or such just to make sure a friend and you have the same stats and custom teams.) You may win in the end, or not, but it isn't worth the headache.

In the real world, you stick your head in the dirt to hide from problems.
In Minecraft, you stick your head in the dirt to find problems.

Is this okay to do?
