At that point I don't think going higher makes all that much of a visible difference.

Once you get above 30 fps, you can't even tell and it doesn't matter.
There is a huge difference between 30 and 60, at 60 is where is starts to get hard to tell depending on your monitor, most have a refresh rate of 60Hz meaning it can only display 60 frames a second. Just because your video card is over working its self doesn't mean it's the monitor can.

False. I have a very nice computer and i can't go over 160. Maybe if I used optifine and turned everything to the lowest setting then maybe could hit 300 outside and 600 in caves.

Just don't let your computer go into sleep mode! Otherwise, your computer will freeze when you try to turn it on again.

Yeah... no. its around 55-60 fps where you can't tell much of a difference anymore when you go higher.
