This relates to my previous post. I feel fairly confident that with Jeb at the helm, we will see more changes that encourage clever engineering and more latitude when it comes to building. Pistons are the evidence I would bring forth to exemplify the kind of addition we can expect from him, as you did.
I feel like he will improve Minecraft in ways more appealing to me, away from flavor changes. More like the 'old' Minecraft.
This is, of course, only speculation.
Not speculation. Just take a look at Jeb's personality - he's a lot more open minded, while Notch has a fixed idea on his mind.
Plus, Jeb seems to have put the focus on what Minecraft is worth again, instead of Notch's "combat game". I still remember when Notch said he wouldn't add anything to world generation unless it improved combat. But Jeb already seems to have changed that: look at the new sheep, for example.
I prefer 1.7.3. They should have kept insta-eating when they added the hunger system, and they should have added new ores and weapons (magic fire and ice staves or a rapid fire but old handheld gun?) instead of this stupid enchantment system. Potions are okay, but they feel so unfinished, having so few recipes, and I really feel that the healing potion recipe should use herbs or something instead of stupid golden melons. I hate what they've done to the bow and the animal breeding system, its nearly gamebreaking to not have the machinegun bow and the animals respawning so that we must hunt them instead of breed them. :sad.gif:
One thing I really hate is the enchantment system. Its so random, takes so much clicking, usually won't get you what you want, and it takes so much monster fighting. Instead of adding enchantments, they should have basically integrated the plugin MCmmo into the game. It's a much better system of levelling up and getting EXP, it allows for more skill levelling, the way to get XP isn't just by killing monsters, you basically slowly get better at whatever you do, and best of all, it doesn't require those stupid XP orbs. :biggrin.gif:
100% agree!!!!! 1.7.3 was the pinnacle of this game. I miss it. I actually have 1.7.3 on my old laptop and am thinking of transfering it to my new one. I wont get into all the reasons why Im not as happy now because its obvious and everyone else on here pointed them out. There are a few good things now like breeding, but the useless block moving enderman and gay potions make me crazy
LOL at op, people were whining about every update! This is just another one of those threads from people who can't take change to a ****ING VIDEO GAME.

LOL at op, people were whining about every update! This is just another one of those threads from people who can't take change to a ****ING VIDEO GAME.
Look at the definition for whining:
whined, whin·ing, whines - To complain or protest in a childish fashion.
I don't think anyone here is acting like a child, we're all complaining in a very logical fashion.
We have the right to criticize anything if we don't like it. Now please stop trolling us and get out of this thread.
You're 100% correct. I was mainly pissed at the hunger "crapdate" and some new environments, but overall 1.7 was the best. I actually had to change to PEACEFUL a few times because of hunger.

The last girlfriend I had was back in 2004... I haven't had time for relationships, I've been married to Minecraft.
I agree, although I think 1.8.1 was just fine, but when I began to see what was coming up I was not happy. 1.7.3 was where I began in minecraft, but I had watched video's on it since a little before indev. I get a wierd feeling about the new update. Also, I saved my 1.8.1 and 1.7.3 .minecraft's so if something like this happened, I could still go back without the downgrader. I just hope Jeb attempts to turn this back in it's old direction.
If we had ONLY 15+ playing Minecraft, I believe it wouldn't have ended up the way it did. Why?
Little children have a short attention span. Minecraft (alpha) was a simple game that only mature players could get the most out of.
THEN CAME THE KIDDIES!
Notch added more elements that the kids demanded. Potions, Hunger, all items which give instant gratification and not something you must work towards (and to do that you must be mature and patient)
He added pistons which didn't add anything, because 'everybody' already had the mod. If anything, pistons is just a downgraded version.
Now you can't build anything legit without the fear of dying on the top of your tower from hunger.
He added strange ****. Potions. The game didn't WANT or NEED them. Like, why the hell would I want to poison myself anyway?
-rant over-
15 year old's have short attention spans on occasion as well. Also, I believe that the game turned out the way it did, because everyone was complaining how BORED they were with Minecraft. I personally enjoyed Minecraft up until now. I don't like "The End" They should have finished the Nether, and had a boss there. That "Dream" world notch brought up sounded cool and would have given you a reason to sleep unless you were just sleeping to avoid the night. (I don't)
Either that or add The Aether into the game. I just feel as though Minecraft tried to get more and more like Terraria. I think it should have stayed the direction it was initially going.

Have you ever seen WoW players? Go tell them that their game is repetitive and stupid see what they do.
Beds destroyed the survival. nowadays you can just skip the nights like a ***** :sad.gif:
you have always been able to skip nights as an op if you want to get technical, it is up to the user to be tough. Question, what if there are a bunch of people on a server, they won't all sleep I can promise you that, so it is pretty much the same, oh, and you can just not use beds, just like you don't have to make yourself an op to change it from night to day.
I agree, the game has changed a lot, I guess for some stupid reason it doesn't bother me that much. Sometimes I wish I more rants so I could start a ton of threads, I just get bothered by glitching mobs, but not enough to even say much about it. I mean, I really can't argue too much with anything said here, except what I said up there, but if is just weird, could be because I'm really old, and it just makes me look at things differently.
Someone help me please, I want to lodge some kind of complaint!
There is nothing wrong with people saying they preferred an earlier version of Minecraft. It doesn't make them ''whiners'', especially if they stay away from going Ad Hom on everyone who disagrees. It also doesn't mean they don't like the game anymore and should be pointed at.
I don't think anyone in this thread really whined. Opinions are what I see, and they gotta be respected.
Myself? I find that since Wolves, the development of this game has strayed away from the spirit of early Minecraft. It's still an AMAZING game, but I would have liked more block/decoration options since what I like to do best is build stuff. You know, instead of Wolves which I think are little more than useless fluff introduced to sell the game better to Gaia Online-type players. I really think the focus should be on putting out new block types and new interactions between them like pistons.
Just my 2 cents.
Because there are SO MANY social things in Minecraft, and wolves affect gameplay SO MUCH.
Sorry, I just can't stand people who say "everything after wolves was bad". Let's look at all the things.
-pistons
-nether bricks and decorations
-fence gates and more options for using fences for decoration
-The Enderman, a mob as unique to the game, and as interesting as the creeper.
-Strongholds and abandoned mineshafts
-Rivers, Ravines.
-etc.
Ps, if you a little troll kid and you want to 'dis' me for this, be my guest! I'm 28, I drive, stay up late and play with girls boobs... I doubt your words will make much difference!
I doubt yours will, either. The 9-year-olds here don't want to play with girls' boobs. Instead, brag about how you can eat as much candy and ice cream as you want and never have to clean your room. THAT will make them jealous! :biggrin.gif:
1.7.3 was my favorite. I remember when my friend and I finally figured out the server...
We "lived" a great "life" with a nice house, a deep mine, and...
I better stop before I go too far.
1.8-1.0 just added stuff that none of us needed. Notch started focusing too much on the Enderman. That was a nice new lighting code though...

I did not say wolves affected gameplay SO MUCH. I don't see why you respond to that. I said I didn't like them because I thought they were useless fluff. Which is why I brought up Gaia-Online, the stronghold for Fluff on Earth.
I also never mentioned anything about it's social aspect, nor the wolves'.
I did not say "everything after wolves was bad"
Now...
-pistons / I mentioned them as one thing I liked so why list this to contradict me?
-nether bricks and decorations
-fence gates and more options for using fences for decoration / Those are good example of changes I like. Not enough of them but whatever, I never stated NOTHING good and tailored to my taste was added since wolves.
-The Enderman, a mob as unique to the game, and as interesting as the creeper. / Not relevant to my post as I specified I had a liking for stuff that has a purpose in building. What do Endermen have to do with my feeling that Minecraft dev has put too much focus on things that serve no real function in building?
-Strongholds and abandoned mineshafts
-Rivers, Ravines. /both irrelevant examples that have nothing to do with my post...
I mean, disagree with me if you like but I don't deserve to have my words twisted like in the above because you ''can't stand people who say "everything after wolves was bad"''.
TL;DR Don't quote a post when your own doesn't have anything to do with it. Do not assume. Stay away from strawmen and have a good day. No hate.
