Hey,
Let's try and get as many things as you could put in a SMP town/village/city as possible.
You can include pictures, here's mine to start it off:
1. Lodge, a place for new people to stay and claim a house.
2. Well, for people to get water.
3. Library, with an enchanting table in it.
4. Community Farm, where people can harvest and replant for everyone.
5. Minecart Station, where people can travel.
6. Blacksmith place with many furnaces and chests full of tinder to smelt with.
7. A courthouse for settling griefing trials.
8. A public mine.
9. A jail (for griefers).
10. A central castle or large home that belongs to the town's creator.
11. Town square/park
12. Pond / Lake with Fishing hut and boats.
13. Church!
14. A theatre
15. a Couple of streets. (Shops etc)
16. a Bank
17. a Town hall
18. a Grand entranceway (usually takes the form of a bridge)
19. a Drawbridge?
20. Guard Towers

22. small houses (Peasants) outside the city.
23. A cemetery (to store the rests of hostile mobs or griefers)

28. A water/lava moat.
29. A tailor's shop to buy and sell leather items.
30. A school.
31. A harbor with lots of boats.
32. A customs officer at the harbor. No smuggling in Nether and Ender items!
33. A fire station. Someone has to put out the fires made by griefers in your 100% wood town!
34. A ration station. In times of war, to conserve food, food stores are closed and daily rations are, say, 1 mushroom soup and 1 bread.
35. A hospital.
36. A house with a giant brown mushroom planted on top of it, with vines growing off of it.
37. A floating island with a castle on it.

40. Pens for every kind of breedable animal.

I scanned over this a few times (for myself and to help ^^) so I hope my suggestions haven't already been said
-An art gallery full of pixel art (Like sonic art in minecraft or such!) regular pictures and such
-A barracks which could merge stuff like archery blacksmith and arena together ^^
-I cant think of what you'd call this one but it'd be for multiplayer maps You can go here to find and hire players to do jobs for you (Hire a hunter to get gunpowder or such) I cant think of the name and so if it's on the list already sorry!
Tryin my best to help my post a couple more things later on
Very helpful list <3
I am using it to help put things in an adventure map
