Back in my days we didn't have these fancy shmancy "Minecraft" and "computers"! We only had LEGOS, and how did we use them? Put them in front of someone's door and let them step on them *chuckle* good times.
I watched some how-to videos first, so I thought I had some idea of what I was doing. I originally played Classic, so it took me a few minutes to realize I didn't have to do anything to survive and I destroyed a couple trees before I figured that out, wondering why I wasn't getting any wood back. Once I started playing Survival, my habits followed closely how one how-to video did it.
My formula was always:
1) Find tree and get wood
2) Make crafting table
3) Make axe
4) Find coal, make torches
5) Make shelter out of resulting mining hole
And to be honest, I mostly play creative now, so I never really learned to make a decent shelter that wasn't at least partially dug into the side of a hill.

When I Started playing I watched a guide on how to make my first shelter in Minecraft. I watched the video and when into the game and tried to punch a tree by spamming click and I kept yelling at myself WHAT THE HELL WHY WONT THIS TREE BREAK so then I watched the video over and tried spam clicking over and over and again. Then I rage quited for like a week, came back and realized I was supposed to hold down the click button. I felt like a retard after that :dry.gif:
First of all, wrong thread. Second, I had no idea what I was freaking doing... and I was used to classic, so I thought I could one-click to break blocks. lol
When I first played classic I liked to explore caves and such. Then I figured out how to build stuff and started to make office buildings.
When I finally moved on to Survival mode I spent the first hours of my time trying to build a house, and punching stone blocks. I didn't even know what crafting was. It was like I was some sort of savage.
When I started playing Survival i didn't know you could grow trees :3 And my first house was a square wood house, I got killed by Creepers over and over again and didn't know what they were, lol.

You grief me, I grief back sometimes, mostly ill kill you :3
I tried to break my first block, took me a while to finally find out that I was supposed to HOLD the left mouse button, not continuously click it.
Me too !
I was like: what the hell I can only pick up flowers and destroy leaves !! :angry.gif:
Then I watched the videos on minecraft.net and hearded: first of all, you must HOLD the mouse button to destroy a block.
I looked around, had no idea what to do. So I just walked for a few minutes until I saw a cow. I hit the cow and killed it. Kept it's leather. Then dug some dirt up. Then nighttime came. I was looking at the moon when something shoot me. I saw a skeleton moving at me. I walked away as fast as I could, but it killed me...
I knew what to do, I couldn't get used to the WASD controls. I built a shelter, with no torches. I threw the remaining wood on the floor and hugged Endermen. I kept one as a pet.
When I was deciding whether to buy the full game or not (after playing with the freebie version on the main site) I read all the newbie guides on the wiki. So when I played for the first time I had a nice safe dirt cave with a wooden door and torches by my first sundown.
So far we all have something in common and that is we were total noobs...
