It would be awesome if you wanted to put your translations into the game for the next official Minecraft update (version 1.1.0). I have added Scaevolus' Unicode font support and is currently working on making language selectable in-game.
Please let me know if there are languages missing. I need to add them manually.
Also, translations of potions aren't correct yet. I'll get around to this "soonish".

Here's an idea, why don't you add a custom language as well as a custom font so users can have their own special language that they can edit without having to worry about removing a language.

Without seeing things in context, sometimes it's impossible to choose the best translation. In programs, often space and screen layout is big factor. I'm not keen on copying and pasting 737 phrases into a text file.
How do languages 'graduate' to being included in a release?
The crowdin system has voting and I can see that languages are listed as "needing voting", but it's not clear what threshold of votes needs to be reached before a language is "done".
There is no information about this on the site and I haven't got a response from crowdin or jeb.
If translations are approved simply on the number of votes this might be a problem (especially for minority languages) as I can see things that are quite obviously wrong right now that have plenty of votes. For example, language.name=Béarla - Béarla is just a translation of "English", but the language.name label for Irish should obviously be "Gaeilge". This translation has 4 votes for the wrong translation and 1 for the right one.
I'm prepared to put the work in to make sure there's a good translation, but at the moment I'm not sure the system is in place to make it happen.

I think Crowdin is a nice try, but pretty flaky as a translation system. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for any serious work. It's extremely frustrating that there seems to be no oversight, or instructions or even hints about how a translation gets into the game.
It also seems like pure optimism to think that just allowing anyone access will result in an efficient and coherent translation. You need gatekeepers to check that the contributors are reasonably competent in the language and you need someone overseeing it to achieve consistency.
It's very frustrating to put so much time into something with no guarantee that it's going to be used and little hope at times that it will be worth using anyway.

There are many criteria for choosing how to translate something, so I have no simple answer to your question, but your input is welcome.
