I have been playing Minecraft for quite sometime now. I have used tons of different mods, texture packs and skins. The game has never felt full, amazing, or interesting with all these. So I ask you what are the best mods, mod packs, the best texture packs, and the best skins of Minecraft. It can be for any update of Minecraft. I'm just looking for the best with your opinion. I will try everything you put here until what I find what is the best way to go at Minecraft.
I suggest the Summerfields texture pack. It is the most beautiful texture pack I've played and the one I keep coming back to. The colours are bright and cheerful, the mobs are fully customized, and it adds animated grass that sways in the wind. Definitely my favourite texture pack.
In ssp I usually just play the game with the default texture pack, the latest skin I've made for myself, and /maybe/ some mods. Mo'Creatures is one I use often.
If you want to experiment to see what styles you like, a good range of texture packs are:
-Painterly Pack [A rather cozy feel that sticks to the original feel of the game. AMAZING customizability]
-DokuCraft The Saga Continues, or whatever freaking DokuCraft is out there [The cookie cutter 'detailed' one]
-LB Photo Realism [If you can handle the higher end resolutions, it's REALLY realistic]
-Sphax PureBDCraft [Comic-book styled texture pack that is actually really nice]
For mods . . .
-Single Player Commands is always fun if you want to fiddle with things :>
-The Yogbox has a really nice variety of mods in it that work well with the game.
-Timber mod. Really simple mod that just makes it so that when you cut a wood block from a tree, say, all the wood blocks above it connected to it get broken as well. Great for tree farming.
For skins, look at the skin section on PlanetMinecraft :>

I love Summerfields too. And now it has partial Randomobs support. (The mod comes with the new HD patcher)

When I downloaded the yogbox it opened the 7 zip file and when I clicked the install one it opened another 7 zip.

I don't really care for mods on single player.
